Cleaning bath - help please!

Morning everyone
I am fighting a losing battle with my bath.
It's white (not sure what it's made of - it's not plastic cos when DD does magnetic fishing the magnet sticks to it - so some kind of metal I guess!)
I can't clean it properly - it's stained sort of grey stripy - I've tried bleach, bath cleaner, scrubbing - but it stays the same.
Any ideas what I can do - the bath came with the house(!) and the bathroom suite is really old - we can't afford a new bathroom so I would love to get it sparkly clean!
Thank you
xx

My friend recommended "HG" cleaning products to me (she let me borrow some of the bathroom scale away stuff for my shower screen). Bloody marvellous stuff, I will be purchasing some forthwith! I think you can get it from Homebase (or online).

Thanks Kando
Have been on the website and found where my nearest stockist is, so wil get some at the weekend - it's worth a try isn't it!

if it is enamel (sort of varnished steel) you should not use "acidic" products like vinegar/lime scale remover to clean the bath as it dissolves the coating and makes it rough.
your can use cream cleaner and non-scratch kitchen sponges. and in between make sure you wipe of all water after the bath or shower to prevent lime scale to build up.

the grey stripy stains can be the dissolved enamel. no way to get clean again except with special bathroom paint (but that*s a proper dyi project)

Ooh Sonilaa thank you - it could well be enamel as it's magnetic, better start off with the cream cleaner then.
Absolutely certain I wouldn't be able to do any a proper DIY job!
