I was looking at the towel rails in particular but wonder if they would hold up under the weight.

We've had the ones that go in the shower cubicle (soap dish etc.) and they're fine for a bit until they slip down in the middle of the night with a loud crash.

I think it depends on the size of the sucker (bigger is better, we've found) and whether you can get each sucker entirely on one tile, rather than spanning two.

Ok that's helpful. Thanks.

we have a 3-level corner shelf with suckers in the shower & it never falls down - with quite a heavy load of bottles too. It has 2 very large suckers on each level, & they slide along so you can make sure they go on a whole tile, as cokefan says.

So a towel rail might be OK!

(ours hasn't gone mouldy, but the baskets are rusting a bit now)

Going to get one today. Thanks all.

Ok I got a towel rail and it was doing well so I also got a towel ring for hand towels.
Both then fell down and were put back up several times and have now been put out of my sight under the chest of drawers in my bedroom.
I noticed today that the towel rail has been reduced from £21 to £5 in the shop where I bought it.
Grrrrrrr.
