Help! My flat permanently smells of poo

Since starting DD (7 1/2 months) on solids her nappies have taken on a much stronger...aroma....and the pedal bin in her room just isn't sufficient anymore. Particularly on a hot day (sorry if TMI!). What does everyone else do with their dirty nappies? Am I stuck with getting one of those expensive nappy bins or do others have bright ideas (and sweet smelling homes!).

nappy bags and empty the bin every day

BananaMush · 11/06/2010 08:55

I tend to just put dirty nappies straight in the outside bin

empty it into what, into a bag in the bin on the street? Problem is if I leave a bag unsealed outside it gets all sorts of rubbish thrown at it from passers by as we are close to shops. It's an option though

your dustbin or wheely bin

BananaMush · 11/06/2010 09:02

I must add, I use washable nappies and a disposeable at night. The washables are stored in a nappy bucket in the bathroom and don't smell...weird

We have a wheelie bin, So stinky nappies got put out straight into that.
The bin's emptied every 2 weeks, so the smell got really boak-worthy.

i put them straight in outside bin all day too.....cant believe anyone would give them house room!!

twinsister · 11/06/2010 09:33

oh...well that explains it then. Not sure why I had the idea that somehow they could stay inside for a couple of days! Think I'd better get myself a little dustbin and pop it in the back garden til rubbish day. Thanks all.

I use a bucket with a tight fitting lid. empty every day.

Are you tipping 'solids' down the loo? As much as you can? Or use a disposable nappy liner like for cotton nappies. Don't have poo around!
