I'm trying to force myself to shower every other day which isn't working at the mo but I am showerin more than I was so it is working to an extent iyswim

next is five things that I can do every single day around the house, force myself to do and it will become habit

right now the house upstairs is drowning in clothes

the dishes need doing and I feel like I never get a chance to breathe and I'm trying to stop drinking

just to give you some background is all

'm drowning in everything so I'm talking really really basic, acheivable five things

Ive lost sight of normal

so what do you think

real basic

Have you considered having a laundry party - we had one at my friend's house when she had major PND - she just got so down with all the washing so we all piled round there and just washed, dried and ironed continually for two days. We also did a major clean up and sat in the garden between loads talking, laughing and playing with the babies. Once it was all done, she could see what needed to be done and get started. I can totally understand how having clothes everywhere is overwhelming.

Why not get the whole family involved and just say 'no-one goes out till it's done'. Or plan a treat at the end when it's done - hell have the treat while you are doing it - we ate cakes and drank tea for a good nine hours the first day - but if you can just get on top of one problem, you'll feel you are getting there.

  1. Clean kitchen - dishes, worktops, put away food. Sweep (I mop it 3x/week, too).
  1. Clean table and sweep living room.
  1. Fold and put away laundry - if you do it right away it only takes about 5 minutes.
  1. Air out house/flat. Even in winter, I open the windows in all bedrooms, kitchen and living room for at least 5 minutes a day. Otherwise it starts smelling fuggy.
  1. Throw out junk mail/shred stuff/put post away.

My 6 and 4-year-olds have chores already. They are expected to do their part as appropriate to their ages.

But I have anxiety issues and when things start to build up it makes me very anxious.

nearly finished a bottle of wine

having a barbecue with my mates

OP posts:
TrinityTrinityTrinity · 03/06/2010 20:18

that sounds awful
I haven't just thought fuck it and started drinking loads

I just mean that this drinking is different

I didn't reach for the wine once the kids were in bed and I was alone downstairs so that I dont think about neil

I opened the bottle for my friends and me and we are laughing constantly, remembering neil, making jokes, sharing our days

its fun and real
I know I'm getting drunk but its getting drunk for reson of fun not reasons of blocking out, numbing myself

I cannot believe anyone would need to ask this question did your mother teach you anything? basics personal hygiene everyday for you and your children

make beds

pots done

pick washing up off floor and put in machine

really do i need to go on it s not rocket science!!!!!!!!!!!!

tethersend · 03/06/2010 23:52

fishingboat, don't forget to add 'practise sanctimonious cow impression' in the mirror at least 3 times a day.

Or perhaps you have that one off to a tee already.

fishingboat, I just posted a reply to you but figured MN HQ would probably have it deleted. I can only assume you have no idea of how Trinity found herself in this position. She has been tragically widowed and is doing her damnedest to pick up the pieces and put her life back together, one babystep at at a time. Your post was beyond ignorant!

abbierhodes · 04/06/2010 01:11

Fishing boat, fuck off. MNHQ, delete me,I don't care.

Oh, and did your mother teach you nothing? Because mine taught me that if you've nothing nice to say then shut your mouth.

TrinityTrinityTrinity · 04/06/2010 07:29

morning all but fishingboat

thankyou guys for sticking up for me

fishingboat I think maybe my mum didn't manage to share all her organisational and housework skills with me as she was very ill for most of my childhood.
Dont forget you mirror practice

Fishingboat, you are gonna get a lot of replies like the ones you've already had, I'm hoping that your post was due to not being aware of the circumstances that trinity has found herself in. However i would also say that if you have no idea why someone is asking a question, you try asking yourself why, there are many people on here who are battling everyday to get out of bed and get washed and dressed for may reasons includng depression.

HOw about you stick to answering the op rather than judging the person.

LoveBeing34 · 04/06/2010 07:38

BTW fishingboat, my mum achieved a perfect house by being a slave to it something i won't do after watching her, so my house isn't perfect who cares!

LoveBeing34 · 04/06/2010 07:40

Infact fishingboat just read the thread before posting

LoveBeing34 · 04/06/2010 07:43

Morning Trin, just reading this while bfing dd. Other people's lists are prompting me to want to clean too. Hope you have a decent day today, have they sorted out the problem near Gecko's school building?

BlackYellowRed · 04/06/2010 08:21

ChairmumMiaowGoingItAlone has it spot on.

1 - hygenic kitchen
2 - hygenic bathroom
3 - clean clothes
4 - clean bodies
5 - full tummies

GiraffeYoga · 04/06/2010 08:26

Morning- this list is infectious. I've worn earring everday since someone wrote that as a tip (cant remember who!)

Restrung whirlygig!? wow thats orgnaised

PlanetEarth · 04/06/2010 08:28

Can't believe the number of people who make beds or hoover every day! Mine would be:

  1. Feed everyone adequately.
  2. Wash clothes (most days).
  3. Make sure self and kids are clean (shower as/when necessary).
  4. Get self/kids to work/school/activities/appointments
  5. Wash up.

Think that's about it!

omnishambles · 04/06/2010 09:10

Make beds and hoover? Bloody hell no - hoovering can be done once a week and duvets shoved back over the bed if you really want to...

I would deal with any post and bills though - Trinity do you fancy taking some of that outside into the sunshine and sorting it out. (Of course you may have none whatsoever and it may just be in my house where lots of opened but undealt with letters pile up ahem)

Morning btw!

TrinityTrinityTrinity · 04/06/2010 10:51

I have ALOT of undealt with paperwork
ALOT
