Descaling plumbing

We have moved into a house that seems to be riddled with limescale on a major..errmm..scale! Have tried putting a sachet of kettle descaler down one of the loos, which seemed to have helped a bit. However, would love some better suggestions. Have been attacking the taps, plugs, etc. with Mr Muscle limescale remover but would also like a suggestion for somethign less chemically for the sink/draining board, which needs almost daily descaling.

bicarbonate of soda made into a paste works quite well if you have a bit that is stuck! You can also use it on the loo. You can also be able to buy special toilet cleaners that also work on limescale - don't use bleach as it doesn't do a thing on its own. I have invested in a rim gel thing that works on it everytime I flush the loo!

Hagesan Blue also works a treat on any limescale on your plumbing and it also works on copper oxide staining but don't leave it on too long.

There is also a product called Grot buster which eats it from your tiles etc and I put in down the sinks too (not sure you are supposed to)

The secret to cleaning is to use a product that doesn't need rinsing as otherwise you are back to square one.

I use the dettol surface cleanser spray for most of my cleaning as it is taint free and can be used on most hard surfaces. If you have kids then you probably own some of that already for highchairs and toys etc!

Enjoy your new home!
