Best laminate worktops

I am no great housekeeper, and don't really care enough to spend the time needed on a wood worktop or the money needed for granite. I'm after an easy life!

So, which laminates are best?

I'm after a wood-effect (preferably oak) one which comes in 680mm depths as well as standard, to go on a Ikea white gloss kitchen. We do need one long stretch of 4.9m - no ieda how we're going to solve that little problem...

Hi Gentleness - you won't get a 4.6m length of anything! You will have a joint which will be masticked. I am an Int Designer but can't advise on non-stone or wood as rarely use it. I have however seen a laminate with a metal edge which I think looks nice - as its not "pretending" to be another material iyswim. Wood isn't that hard to look after (excpet round the sink area) and is nice and cheap. Best of luck,

Thanks - yeah I was wondering if a join was the only option. How irritating!

I decided that I am not a good enough housekeeper to risk wood that I never got round to oiling and so on, and with one tiny LO and hopefully more later, I think time-saving, easy-clean, cheap options are going to win out over "I love it" ones every time!
