Does anyone have one and if so what do you think?

bump as considering getting one and interested to know?

Do you have carpet or hard floor? Think they work best on hard.

RandomEuro · 09/05/2010 11:49

Have several friends with robot hoovers, all love them and could not recommend them enough. All have hard floors, no carpets. One friend has a lot of allegies and swears by the robot. They have it set up to go off when they are out. Will probably also get one myself when my current vc packs in.

Happybutknackered · 09/05/2010 13:33

Apparently they go from carpet to hard floor without a problem.
I like the idea of leaving it to do the job while I'm out at work. One less bit of housework to do!

I usually have to sweep 2 or 3 times a day, so am keen on getting one!

soapydishcloth · 11/05/2010 14:43

DP reckons I love ours more than I love him, and he may be right It cleans every day, supposed to do 3 rooms on one charge but usually manages the living room and hall. It usually finds its way back to the charging station on its own, but if not I just pick it up and put it back when I come in. Cleans very well so I only get the big hoover out once a week now. Needs regular emptying and the brushes cleaning, I do that every other day or so. I have written this very impersonally, but like most other owners I have given ours a name and talk to him. Sad moo.

I have one, its great.

Does both hard floors and carpets, and can switch between the two happily.

I have one so that I can get the hoovering done away.from dd1 (noise averse ASD)

I still need to dyson about once a month I reckon, but other than that my time is now Hoover free.

Am now covering a scooba - robot mopping - as have lots of hard floors having moved...

DreamTeamGirl · 12/05/2010 23:37

I have the roomba this one from John Lewis

its amazing and I love it and would have its children

So tempted to get a Scooba now too -silverfrog I found a seller on ebay.com that ships here and so you can get it including converter for about £250

Mine does upstairs one day, including lino'd ensuite and main bathroom and carpeted bedrooms and hallway, and downstairs next day which is vinly, lino, laminate and carpet without breaking a sweat
Its picks up an astonishing amount and needs to be emptied and have its filter cleaned after EVERY use even now we are a month on- I do have 3 cats and wondered about getting the pet one, but didnt bother and this does just fine

Like sopay ours has a name and gets spoken to. DS comes in and calls 'Holly, HOLLY, where are you??'

now when is someone going to invent one that does stairs ...

Happybutknackered · 13/05/2010 07:21

I think you've convinced me. Now I wonder if there's one that'll pick up toys, wash, iron, clean bathroom etc. etc..... :O

our is called Herbie

Dreamtechgirl- if oyur stairs are wide enough, it cando stairs (well, most of them) - I have been lazy fascinated enough by the "anti-fall" mechanism to put it on a step, watch it hoover and turn around wihtout falling, and then move it up to the next step, and the next etc. Does need more time input than normal Herbie cleaning, but stillnotas back breaking as using a normal hoover to do stairs!

I am waiting for scooba to come back into Costco - I saw them there about a year ago and didn't buy one... But what they've sold once they'll sell again...

ALternatively, dh is off ot the states in June. Might get him to bring one back!
