Is there some magic way of stopping bath toys going scummy?

I have a feeling it's more cleaning, but just wondering if anyone had any top tips. DD has an enormous net bag of plastic tat for the bath but it all tends to get a bit slimy after a while and the squirty toys start squirting out little bits of mould I do tend to clean them when I clean the bathroom but it's a faff and I don't do it particularly often as I am a slattern terrifically busy

Would soaking them in vinegar solution or something work? Milton? Replace every six months (toys, not solution)?!

Always squeeze out the squeezy toys after every bath, that helps.

But never found a good way of stopping it completely.

Milton works, but you have to do it all the time, and it takes ages to get all the mould out. It's a real PITA. I have given up, and cull on a regular basis.

Plastic stuff that goes in the dishwasher is the long-term way to go.

i have been squeezing the water out of the squeezy ones (a sentance i never thought i'd say ) and it seems to be working

have ones without any gaps/holes and then make sure you can put in dishwasher.
However, in our house, an empty shampoo bottle has always the fave over any shop bought bath toy.

Thank you ladies. By squeezy toys, do you mean squirty ones? I can never get all the water out. Don't really have squeezy ones, except one ball.

I think getting a dishwasher might be the answer though I also love the idea of replacing squirty toys with empty bottles which can then go in the recyling - ta!

Accidentally put them one by one in the washing machine by accident like, accidentally.

Those that survive will be nice and clean, and you can quietly 'lose' the failures.

all my kids ever want to do is pour from one container to another - it really doesn't amtter what container it is as long as it pours! Cheap Ikea pic-nic cups are fab and are lovely and colourful.
