Washer-Dryer?

Anyone got one? I have a separate tumble drier which I really need in the winter months (I know - not very green...) but would like to make space now for a dishwasher.

Trouble is most washer dryers I have experienced just don't get the stuff that dry. Anyone use a good one?

I see Bosch have brought one out that uses air like a conventional tumble dryer but seems a bit pricey. Any advice?

I think they just don't work as well. We had one and tbh, it was a bit irritating as it could only dry half the load so there was always wet washing hanging round anyway. I ended up going to the laundrette to dry...

I did last get one about 2 years ago though so may have improved since.

The one we have no longer dries so is only ever used for washing which it does well but the dry facility is useless - can I suggest you look on the Which website as I saw earlier in their magazine small table top dishwashers which might help you and would be less expensive than going and buying a brand new washer dryer. hth

Haven't got one but I've always follwed the rule that you should buy two separate products rather than one that combines two different functions - you pay more but get better quality.

If money is a concern, when I last looked, ebay had lots of Bosch washers and dryers (new/ as new) for sale...also we got a great discount on a Bosch washer through Sainsburys - they act as a third party vendor for some electricals company. Think we got about £80 or more off it last summer.

However I do understand your need for a dishwasher - and if I had to choose (I don't have to because we have no space for either!) I'd go for a dishwasher and washing machine, and use airers/ radiators to dry our clothing. Actually what I find works well in the winter is drying clothes on the airer until they're almost done and then putting them on the radiator to make sure any remaining moisture evaporates. That way we've avoided creating condensation/ damp. Ahem. Far more info than you were asking for!

No Speedy - that's useful stuff. Thanks to all. I can't decide what to do! Will check out table top dishwashers but not sure if they will be a bit small.

Basically I need a bigger house!
