Getting burnt-on food off of pyrex

brockleybelle · 19/04/2010 16:26

Have a few pyrex dishes that have definitely seen better days - lots of burnt on stuff that won't come off with a good scrub.

Can anyone recommend a homemade solution I could soak them in overnight?

Thank you

I think boiling it with (clothes) washing detergent is supposed to help?

i used sandpaper on a really old one i wanted clean once

Yes, soaking overnight with washing powder should work.

Otherwise, get the brillo pads out.

No solution, but whatever solution people suggest, use wire scourer too- tends to get rid of most stuff.

If it has been like that for years, I don't think anything gets it completely clean, but would like to be told I am wrong on that one

Thank you all! Will soak in boiling water and washing powder overnight and then attack with wire scourer. Also interested in sandpaper idea, so will try that too if plan a isn't entirely successful. Will report back.

I soak pans overnight with vinegar if there are burnt on stuff at the bottom and that usually works. Also, I get the wire scourers with pink detergent - brillo pads and they are brillant.
