have spent ages wiping the crap out, but there is loads in all the crevices

ususally it wouldn't bother me but when I wash whites it sometimes leaves grey stains

have just washed cream sofa cover - shouldn't have bothered

Think it is fluff from clothes. Drives me insane. I should wipe down the seal regularly I know but I forget until the grey gunk ends up all over the washing....

Running a full cycle at a high temperature may help. I think this build up can be the result of 30 degree washes all the time.

Every so often I do a boil wash with nothing in it except a cup full of white vinegar which seems to sort out all the gunginess in my machine.

DecorHate · 14/04/2010 19:05

I try to do the boil wash thing too but it always makes my machine smell

Put a hand full of soda crystals in the drum and run an empty hot wash (60 deg+) and this should sort it out. Do this once a month and that will keep it looking and smelling fresher. Soda crystals easily available from supermarket.

Do you use white vinegar and let it dry out completely afterwards DecorHate?

dizzydixies · 14/04/2010 19:08

empty hot wash with some bicarb of soda?

brimfull · 14/04/2010 19:13

but will a hot wash with soda crystals actually remove the sludge?
have wiped a lot of it off , but loads on the crevices still

no idea sorry. its normally my failsafe for everything though

DecorHate · 14/04/2010 23:01

Usually use soda crystals not vinegar. Tbh my machine is rubbish. I regret buying such a durable but inefficient model as I wish it would break down so I can replace it!

i use a tiny squirt of bleach in the drum, or Milton fluid on a hot wash and it removes gunk and stink.
