Hi Ladies,

Can anyone offer any tips for removing cooking oil from (new!)suede boots? Many thanks.

well I spilt oil on my brand new toast suede slippers GRRR and straight away brushed fairy liquid solution on, theres still a bit of a mark but its better than it was

Next time take the boots off -though barefoot cooking isnt that great either

A couple of options you could try are:

  • dab on fairy liquid with a little water. Leave to dry and then use a suede brush to brush out.
  • using cornflour (possibly talc will work too ) to soak up the oil. Leave overnight and then use suede brush to brush out.

I would try the dry method first as at least you arent in danger of spreading the stain.

Bit of a cross post there -I really should type quicker .

Thankyou, I will give it a go.

Yes - I know i was chancing it wearing them while cooking but had friends round and I was showing off in my new boots - that'll teach me.

Sounds silly i know & apologies for answering late but chalk dust sprinkled over the fat stain & then brushed off after an hr or so.

I dropped a piece of pork on my suede boots & had a huge round splodge on the top of them, tried this & i swear it went straight away.

Thankyou all - I tried the cornflour trick and it has got most of it out (had to do it about 3 times), I think the chalk would have been just as good - and I did have some in. You can hardly tell now.
