Giving toys to charity?

I've got about 4 bin bags of old toys to take to charity (you can tell I've been having a fun Easter can't you?)
How do you actually go about it? I've took small amounts into a local charity shop before and I frequently put bags of clothes in those big bins near the recycling.
There are signs up outside the charity shop telling people not to leave their stuff-so what should I do?

the signs refer to when the shop is closed, they will take it when they are open.

I have never taken stuff in but I know that you shouldn't leave stuff outside the shop door if they are closed as they will get charged by the council - council thinking its rubbish and all that! Take it in when they are open!

I'm just reluctant to go into the shop with so much stuff and be judged on on it. When I have taken a few things the staff always have a good nose at it and have criticised it too

Take t to a different charity shop if they're going to be snotty about it

Why not phone whichever shop you're thinking of first? I had a load of toys and just called to check they wanted them. Which they did...
