cilit bang and scratchy cloth.

DreamTeamGirl · 30/03/2010 21:59

Chemical wise, anything with limescale remover in it- I quite like Limelite- and an old shower scrunchy is good for scrubbing away!!

If you are looking more natural a really strong vinegar/ water solution is good, sprayed on

Once its done use a daily shower spritz- or even dry it and it'll stay lookin gorgeous

ChasingSquirrels · 30/03/2010 22:01

once clean - get a squeegie and wipe it down after every use, then wipe over with a cloth to dry. Takes a minute or so extra but keeps it sparkly

lurkingsnurker · 30/03/2010 22:05

Viakal - either spray or liquid. Wipe on with damp cloth, leave for 5, then rinse off. Works wonders

Thanks everyone, think i will try the limelite and then vinegar if needed as I have those.

I know i need to start wiping down after i've used it

How strange, I was just looking at our shower screen about half an hour ago thinking 'ugh, better start scrubbing away at that again today!'

Thought there might be a miracle cleaner to save me scrubbing!

Pumphreydidit · 31/03/2010 09:08

This one is good- put two tablespoons of cornflour into a plant sprayer then top up with vinegar.
Spray it and leave it on for a minute then wipe off with a duster and finish it with an ecloth.

cakeywakey · 31/03/2010 09:11

E-cloth defintely, keeps shower screens and other shiny bathroom bits extra sparkly.

abride · 31/03/2010 09:12

SOmeone here recommended applying clear car wax to a clean shower screen so that future water drops just beaded and ran off. I have yet to try this but I am going to do so, as soon as I can find the wax and do the pre-clean.

Oooh that makes sense abride!
Might go digging through DH's car cleaning box later and see if I can find some!

I keep meaning to get an E-cloth but forget everytime I'm in the supermarket.
Anything for an easier life!

Its not me thats the problem, its DH, he gets out of the shower, water all over the place, soaking wet towel on the floor, it drives me mad!
I'm sick of asking him now.

And don't even get me started on how he closes the curtains! lol

I'm going to turn the kitchen taps on everytime he has a shower until he learns to wipe everything down and leave the bathroom tidy.

VotingBlue · 31/03/2010 11:04

Vinegar and a scrubbing green cloth thing.

Its a bit smelly, so I do it naked then have a shower afterwards, which kind of defeats the object !

LoveBeingAMummy · 31/03/2010 12:17

pmsl @ votingblue

And don't even get me started on DH when he has a bath

Sister had 11 showers (owned a hotel) and swears by Mr Muscle Bathroom Multi-task - you can get it for £3 in Waitrose or in the 99p shop - for 99p!

BythewayItsBratley · 31/03/2010 12:20

DH can get out of the shower and leave wet feet marks from the mat on the floor right the way through to the bedroom, how can he do that!?
Its as if he has sponge feet that carry the water all the way there!

Am off to clean the bathroom, will report on my cleaning method when I return.

Ponders · 31/03/2010 12:25

best place for ecloths is Aldi - they do several different colours, so you can keep eg bathroom germs separate from kitchen germs, pack of 2 for about 99p I think

abride · 31/03/2010 12:28

I heart ecloths.

ladylush · 31/03/2010 12:29

I use toilet limescale remover. It's pretty heavy duty and you have to wear gloves due to chemical content but does get the screen very clean.

BythewayItsBratley · 31/03/2010 13:14

I'm done!

Went for vinegar, but then I got the Cif out just to be sure!

I stink of vinegar but it looks good.

LoveBeingAMummy · 01/04/2010 09:07

Did it work?

OP posts:
SPBInDisguise · 01/04/2010 09:09

someone on here recommended making a paste with bio washing powder & water and scrubbing- it really works. i use it to clean the entire shower
well the recommendation was for the tray but it works well on the glass too

abride · 01/04/2010 12:44

I did the waxing thing, too.

ABout to go and have a late shower to see if it helps bead the water off the surface.

Fizzylemonade · 01/04/2010 21:07

I squeegee after every shower and dry with an e-cloth (this was for potential house viewings when we were selling- and YES people commented on how clean it was and I had to leave instructions to the new owners on how I achieved this)

As I live in medium/hard water area, every week I would use Ecover Limescale remover and cleaned the glass doors and tray with a sponge whilst I was in the shower.

Worked every time, I loathe the smell of vinegar and hate hard work, this is easy.

giveitago · 06/04/2010 19:05

Guys do all these tips work on the clear plastic screens (acrylic?) - as I I feel the limscale has bloody eaten into it - I've done vinegar and drying off from bloody day one - and mr muscle I find worse than useless - I now thinking bio washing powder.

Are you all talking about glass screens here and what's a squige?
