I need to get a new machine and was thinking of getting a miele (they cost a lot but they do have a 5 or 10 year guarantee depending on which model you get). Does anyone have one that they love and can recommend? Thanks

Yes, we have one, tis brill! Went for the 4144 model because it has a quick (30 minute) programme, 1400 max spin speed and a time delay function, I use this overnight to get up to just-washed clothes which can go out on the washing line first thing without having been washed and sitting wet in the drum all night (a pet hate).

We got a free 10 year warranty on ours, there was a promotion on this model at the time.

Miele build quality far and away better than anything else on the market. I don't expect to have to buy another washing machine for 20 years.

I think all the Miele models, even the most basic ones, do a 32 minute express wash... I'm on my second one (first one is in our old house that we now rent out, it didn't break!!!) and they both had this and both times we bought the cheapest & most basic model we could find. Also my mum's Miele is quite old now (I keep guessing how old it is, I'm not sure, I would say it dates back to between 1995 and 1997 as I'm pretty sure she had it when I was in 6th form altho she denies it... certainly it's at least 8 years old tho) and that does a quick wash.

A really basic Miele does everything that you need. Ours doesn't have time delay but it has a 'time left' indicator which I didn't have on my previous model but which is useful to have.

There are so many models you can get that it gave me a headache - so we just got the cheapest one we could find, and it's brill. The first one we got from House of Fraser as they had it on special offer for £100 off as it was end of line and the current one that we have in the house we live in now was from O'Gormans. We've bought from them a couple of times and never had any problems at all. They stock a lot of Miele stuff at good prices (we bought on t'internet).

I have a Miele washer/dryer which is fab and has changed my life. I use a function on the dryer bit called "smoothing". It's an eight minute programe. I put up to about four of DH's shirts in there at a time once they have been washed. After eight mins they are ready to be popped on a hanger and hung up to dry. There are NO CREASES so no ironing is needed. They come out of the 8 minute programme steaming hot. It's so fab. I've had it a few years now and don't have piles of ironing around anymore.
