my washing machine is about 10 years old, we've got it insured and i regularly clean it /descale it. However, I haven't done any washing for 2 days. I've gone to do some this morning and there was a lot of water just sat there in the drum!! Like it had seeped from somewhere. Then i saw that there is mould on the rubber seal around the it. I've tried to wipe it but its already stained!!! How on earth do I get it off??? I am mortified! lol

TIA!

I've got this problem too, on my rubber seal. No amount of wiping will get rid of it. Not much help I'm afraid!! Would be interested to hear if anyone else has any ideas.

bleach mixed with water? mould and mildew remover?

Run washing machine on boil wash with some bleach in it?

My dad's washing machine has this problem as well - I drowned it in white vinegar, which killed the mould but can't remove the stain. Doing a boil wash is a good idea as well, helps remove any spores. Leaving the door ajar is also a good idea, if practicable.

i try and leave the door open but my lack of co-ordination and huge belly means that it unintentionally gets closed a lot! I've done a boil wash on it. I've got some mould and mildew remover I might try that later and then put another boil wash on.

I also try and leave the door open, but dh comes past (we have a galley style kitchen), bangs his leg on it - then closes it again. The mould remover I had didn't work, but I've just seen rave reviews for one on the Lakeland website so I might try that - we have a store near us!

The lakeland mould remover is fantastic for things like grouting etc but I think it may not be good for rubber things - may rot the seal. Hang on..... just checked - it says nothing about being bad for rubber so go for it!

ooh trip to lakeland methinks...deadly... haha

hehe, we've decided to drop in to Lakeland this afternoon - will probably come home with all manner of stuff!
(I was looking for a new carpet spot cleaner as well - theirs gets pretty good reviews)
