Oh no- will you be able to replace only the door? or will you need to buy a new oven?

cyb · 14/03/2010 17:27

was it the food trying to escape?

southeastastra · 14/03/2010 17:30

the food was slightly over cooked! i can't find a door so looks like i have to replace the whole thing argh!

does your house insurance cover it?

southeastastra · 14/03/2010 17:57

i don't know. just peed off - new ones are dear and the installation alone is £69!

I got told I would need to pay over 60 quid for installation, I said no thanks just send me the glass, and I fitted it myself. Later I dropped a frying pan on the door and the inner glass fell through, so I had to take the outer glass off again to be able to refit the inner glass, but then the FSD failed before I got the outer door back on. I ended up scrapping the cooker, and getting another one off ebay for the princely sum of £37.01, less than I paid for the glass!!!!

i found one identical oven on ebay for bargain price, but it's right up north

i would check your insurance to see if it covers it

humptyismarriedtoanumpty · 15/03/2010 00:02

southeast, this happened to us. Are you sure you can't get a part for it. We bought just a door off some spares website for about£30 and fitted it ourselves.
Worth investigating before shelling out for a new one!!

ThatVikRinA22 · 15/03/2010 00:20

is it a built in oven? the insurance might well cover it if it is - counts as fixtures and fittings.

also have you phoned the manufacturer to see if parts are available?

ThatVikRinA22 · 15/03/2010 00:23

oh by the way that would be your buildings insurance that would cover it not your contents.

when my hob smashed in my last house the buildings insurance covered it!
