What is it then

I need to buy a new washer but am wedded to Bosch. DP wants to get one of those Dyson monstrosities.

Oh the conversation is rivetting in our gaf.

JaMmRocks · 11/03/2010 12:53

I'm glad I'm not the only one - I recently got a 9kg monster and I have to search the house for things to put in it

It has a jeans, baby, and sports clothes setting, plus a steam thing which 'refreshes' clothes

Having the same problem with drying though

DP'S nan called me 'widow wanky' the other day

onepieceoflollipop · 11/03/2010 12:57

I have am waiting for our normal 5kg machine to break down. It is very long lived apparently!

I wonder if in a few years it will be possible to get an even bigger machine, like 12kg or something.

I could just do two loads of laundry a week, subject to colour sorting of course.

bibbitybobbityhat · 11/03/2010 12:58

I wouldn't want a huge one myself (fnarr).

As I prefer to do smaller loads of similar fabrics (ponce).

I find my 6.5kg Hotpoint just fine (smug).

Don't need a peeper to tell me when my washing has finished as my brain tells me when I see the drum is still and the spinning noise has stopped that it is done (sarcastic).

ASecretLemonadeDrinker · 11/03/2010 13:02

Ooh , I have a normal one as it's integrated and was limited on choice (and accidently got a washer /dryer) but am waiting for the tumble drier to kick the bucket so I can by a big one of those, though again am limited as I want vented and all the biggies seem to be condenser.

Intresting that, eh?

JaMmRocks · 11/03/2010 13:07

LG do 11kg ones - I could wash myself in one of those

I need to get out more

ASecretLemonadeDrinker · 11/03/2010 13:12

11kg? I think you need to eat more!

DecorHate · 11/03/2010 13:13

I want to know what it is too! I have hated my current one since I got it (cycles take too long, keeps getting clogged with limescale, leaves grey marks on the clothes)

GordianKnot · 11/03/2010 13:50

its fabbo

Mine has a peeper and it drives me INSANE - it's like a naggy thing that shouts 'stop what you're doing, get off your arse and LAUNDER, woman'

And if you say 'fuck the fuck off, I'm busy', it just keeps going off - every minute.

It does have a slightly larger than average drum though, which is nice.

GordianKnot · 11/03/2010 13:56

my dishwasher has one
and my fridge
i am all peeped out

OP posts:
GordianKnot · 11/03/2010 13:56

ANd in the drum are fancy things that reduce ironing on a certain setting

GordianKnot · 11/03/2010 13:57

"it fluffs"
says the manual

OP posts:
CiderIUpAndSetIFree · 11/03/2010 14:10

lol at a machine that fluffs for you (I wouldn't need one of those though, I'm quite good at fluffing all by myself).

Ours is a Bosch 7 kilo one, it behaves very well apart from the bloody incessant peeping.

CiderIUpAndSetIFree · 11/03/2010 14:11

I might do a course in washing machine repair just so I can figure out how to disable it.

Then I could hire myself out to fellow sufferers.

GetOrfMoiLand · 11/03/2010 14:26

15 minute quick wash??

Sports wash sounds good for dd's fucking mud encrusted rugby stuff and DP's builder clothes.

Please what is this machine?

GordianKnot · 11/03/2010 16:48

i linked it further down

Is it new? Do you have an extended warranty? My super-huge 6kg w/m broke this week (only a couple of years old). Engineer came, undid 6 screws and replaced the motherboard... Cost £130.

deaddei · 11/03/2010 21:01

Peepers are horrible- I KNOW the machine has finished.
Just got a big Panasonic one from JL- 5 year free warranty and the quietest drum ever.

ceres · 12/03/2010 07:04

i would love a big drum - have endless piles of washing and never seem to catch up. our machine is 7 or 8 years old and has never had anything go wrong, i keep saying to dh that it must be due to go kaput soon! our previous machines have never lasted that long.

current machine has a 1600 spin - not sure if this is contributing to the tiny holes that have been appearing in clothing. i googled and found one theory that the fast spin forces fabric through the holes of the drum and they then snag on the inside workings of the machine. anybody know anything about this?

anyway, on the back of that i am now lusting after a miele which has a honeycomb drum so can't snag anything!
