Anyone know how to get baby poo out of sleep suits?

Hi, My little one has had a few exploding nappies lately, vanish does not seem to be shifting the stains, lol! Anyone know how to shift bright yellow baby poo out of clothing? I am oaking a couple of sleepsuits in cold water and some Bio Tex at the moment but I am not sure it is going to do the trick!
I would really appreciate any tips!

Hang them outside for a few days - the sun will bleach them even if it's overcast or raining.

PureAsTheColdDrivenSnow · 01/03/2010 11:29

don't bother - buy cheap supermarket ones and bin the ones covered in explosive poo

TheDevilWearsPrimark · 01/03/2010 11:30

Hanging them to dry in the sunshine always worked for me but there's little of that these days.

Otherwise you may just have to bin them.
Best is to scrub them with soap and a brush in cold water as soon as it happens, but I know that is rarely going to happen when you are looking after a small one.

Hope someone else can give better advice.

I second sunlight, hanging them out will bleach most if not all of the stain away, I love hanging nappies out in summer as they come indoors bright white

I am afraid that, after soaking, if the stains are still evident I have to throw the vest/suit out. I have a friend who took a pair of scissors and literally cut her daughter out of a heavily soiled vest, knowing there is only so much a washing machine can do...

KSal · 01/03/2010 12:06

if its white, you could try soaking in milton solution - works for my daughters vests!

i hate poo explosions!

cheap babygrows until they stop with the exploding bottoms.

No matter what you use, there is always a faint yellow stain there. And I would worry about nasty chemical residue being left on the babygrow.

Filmbuffmum · 01/03/2010 12:23

I found that (to my surprise) the Ecover stain remover, applied generously and left overnight then rinsed in very hot water actually does the job much better than Vanish or the more extreme chemical stain removers.

Thank you for your replies! OMG, I can't actually believe it, I am trying the sunlight trick (yup, we actually have some sunshine today!)and the marks seem to be fading, I actually can't believe it might work! I will let you know of my progress by sunset, lol! Thank you everyone!

Amazing. I didn't even need to wait until sundown, all the stains have gone and they were really bad!!! Sunshine is great! Thank you ladies!

I've recently found sunshine to work really well on tomato stains too

AlexandraPeppernose · 03/03/2010 19:08

sunshine is definitely the best stain remover

IHeartKingThistle · 03/03/2010 21:12

There's a Vanish dual action in a bottle with two nozzles that works great but I've run out and can't seem to find it now!

Never thought of sunshine as that powerful! I always used Napisan which is great cos it's a powder so can be sprinked on, whilst item is in bowl of lukewarm warm - no need to touch offending stain! Just beware it can turn things blue if too much put on in one place. It's better IMO than other chemical stuff, cos it's specially for sanitising nappies - so gets rid of germs, as well as stains.
