I have overlooked defleaing the cats and I'm pretty sue we have fleas. I have been bitten to bits. Have treated cats this morning but where do I start with the house. Have stripped the beds, cushion covers etc. Need to hoover through every day I guess. Is there anything else I can do to stop me being eaten alive? Any tips would be gratefully received.

you need to buy a tin of Indorex flea spray. itis pricey, but it is a fine spray/mist. Spray it everywhere. Wash anything removable. Wash cat bedding every other day. I got old jumpers or fleeces and let them have those and kept on top of changing these/washing them.

Yuo need frontline Combo from the vets, it is stronger than frontline you get online. Or Advocate is meant be very good. Worm them too, again with stuff form the vet, as it's better.

keep vaccuming, to break the cycle.

Poor you - I remember this happening and it made me want to vomit. You can get a spray to kill the fleas from the vets. Would also advice hoovering and throwing the bag away immdeiately/burning it??
There are various other methods like shining a light over a bowl of water and they jump in at night and drown - but I didnt find this particularly effective.

You need some diatomaceous earth. It's a very fine powder which gets under the fleas' shells and kills the little buggers.

It's totally natural so safe to use around pets and children. You can sprinkle it on the cats beds and then hoover it off. I think you can even put it directly on the cats!

Last time we had an infestation (about 3 months after we re-homed the cat - don't want to think about that too much...) I chucked loads of it on the floor (bare floorboards) last thing at night and hoovered it up in the morning and that seemed to do the trick.

I would call the council and get pest control in. They don't charge that much (by the time you have forked out for sprays and powders that might not work), you can go out for the morning, and when you come back it will be done. Also make sure you frontline the cats

Thanks for the advice. I'm so cross with myself for overlooking this! I will look into all suggestions.

nukes! Well we got close to it when we had them! We got rid of ours by:
*flea tableting and liquiding the cats (the tablets are ace btw!)
*using raid and flea powder on the carpets
*obsessively hoovering
*putting a cheap flea collar in the hoover bag
*combing the cats as much as possible
*drinking wine

i second indorex spray.

having tried everything available in the pet shops this is definitly the best.

i sprayed it on my spider nemesis the otherday and it was dead in 10 mins and he was a huge bugger, fleas will have no chance!
