Morning all

Sorry for not being around yesterday. Mum crisis. I went wrong to meet the nurse about the oxygen, but couldnt get mum up, so rang 999 and she is in hospital with type 2 respitory failure.

I got home at 6.30 and was asleep by 7 and didnt wake till 6am this morning

How did you manage? and with the children too, I don't know how you did it?
Is the hospital/care team any help generally?

We've had a awful morning so far, though nothing in your league, dh has been swearing blue murder because ds2 kicked over a bucket of pee (don't ask), Neptune detached itself from the Milky Way at the same time, and dd has been waving UHU around menacingly, refusiing to go to school because she is ill like ds2.
Now I'm worrying that ds1 tripped up carrying his model into school, as his shoe upper was coming off. Actually I am really worried about it..but don't dare ring up incase they think I'm a fool

Time to go back to Babysteps I think.
First: Put dcs in front of CBeebies give them a sweet smile, whilst downing gallons of tea
Then: switch off computer, smile, count blessings and roll sleeves up.
Possibly take glasses off so house looks tidier.

Morning all

Tea - I'm sorry to hear about your mum. I hope today brings better things.

Swan - That does sound like a bad start but things can only get better from there

Morning everyone else

Well I have woken up with a banging headache this morning. I think its because I went across the road to sign language session and my leg hurt more for being on it for a few hours so I didn't get much sleep because of the pain. Lack of sleep always gives me headache. I may go to the chemist today when I take DD to nursery and see if there is anything I can take for the pain. Being allergic to ibroprofen can be a pain sometimes (literally)

Brilliant night in the pub though. Sign language girls on top form, lots of work done and lots of laughs. People do look at you funny though, like to think they are fascinated rather than thinking we are crackers.

Managed to do lots of sitting down jobs yesterday. Cleared out all DD's old clothes from her drawers and sorted clothes that still fit. Made tags for her drawers, threw away anything too babish for her and sorted her bookshelf out. Then sat on the bed settee in spare room and folded the Ben Nevis clothes mountain that was in there. Was very pleased with myself. More so cos these are the jobs that never get done cos I don't like boring jobs where I just sit and do something but had little choice so better than nothing

Jobs for today

  • Explain to DD how the new drawers work and which toys go in which drawer. All the tags have pictures and words so I'm hoping that it won't be too confusing.
  • Online shopping
  • Tidy pile of papers etc from side of computer
  • Update diary (carried forward from yesterday)
  • May make a start on my assignment
  • Contact college to tell then I won't be attending exam they have entered me for as I withdrew from the course before it had finished due to poor standard of teaching. Don't think I learnt enough to pass course if I tried.

MC you are so right, every day I'm grounded by sick dcs there is loads I can get done, of a different sort to what I usually get done. Long sort of organising tasks rather than busy errandy tsks when one is rushing around.

You have done fantastically well on the drawer sorting/labelling.
Ex-curric stuff (well in your case curric) is such a boost isn't it re: sign language

Poor knee - I know I used to live on ibruprofen when had bad back. Try rosehip tablets for inflammation, I and my mum take them for arthritic sort of complaints. Not painkillers exactly just does something or other to help.

OverflowingMum · 25/02/2010 10:18

morning all

tm gosh, poor you and your mum. thinking of you all

swan sounds a dismal morning-we get a lot like that at the moment!Hope your day improves

MC hope you find some decent piankillers

well, I have woken up with a headache too and my dodgy Sacroiliac joints(lingering spd form too many babies LOL)are verysore-too many long doggy walks scramblimg up steep muddy paths whilst pushing buggy oops!
Sooo am planning on taking it easy today
Have already resorted to cbeebies whilst I drink a gallon of tea like swan, will get up and become motivated any second now....

Simply · 25/02/2010 10:40

Hello all.

Ruby You're too kind! I had ds when I was > 24 and dd 15 mths later.

OFM I can relate to scrambling up steep muddy paths but not whilst pushing a buggy! Now that is HARD work. I hope you feel better soon.

swan Sorry to hear you've had such a difficult start to the day. I hope it gets better.

MC and swan Just mentioning that someone I've heard of died recently due to liver problems resulting from taking a type of painkiller (not ibuprofen) repeatedly for a bad back. (I'm being careful how I word this in case someone comes after me!) Please make sure that if you take painkillers regularly for any reason, that your gp is fully aware and can watch out for any side effects.

TM Thanks for the thread and I'm sorry to hear that your Mum was poorly yesterday. I hope she has a better day today.

Well....I have walked the dog and rung one dsis for a chat and that's about it. I need to get showered and dressed (in nice clean clothes) and write a list. Back later.

Starbear · 25/02/2010 10:46

Morning All Oh! TM your holiday has finished. Not looking forward to that stage in my Mum's life but I know its around the corner.
Swan I going to ask, bucket of pee why? On the over hand don't! Hope the day gets better. Hope Dswan1 is okay at school, little mis-haps and difficulities prepare us for Adult life. Too smooth and adult life will be an awful shock. (I read this in a magazine)
MC Glad you had a fab night out. I love watching people sign.
OFM Thank goodness for morden painkillers otherwise a lot of head drilling will have to be done around here.
School nurse turned out to be my neighbour down the road (I don't know she changed roles) She was lovely (it makes me feel all villagey) Going try out the advice.
back in a mo with list.

Starbear · 25/02/2010 10:47

Sorry for major mistake I mean 'ON the other hand' Not 'on the over'!!!!!!! Must not rush my typing...

Jas · 25/02/2010 10:51

Morning

I've read the past two days, but there is too much to take in.

Simply -
I always assume you are all my age when I am reading, so it is a shock when I realise that you aren't (dopey emoticon)! As it happens, you are the same age as me, I think..

(Liver failure would be something paracetamol-based. It is very easy to take too much as it is in all kinds of things)

TM - Hi. I hope things get better for you today. Sounds like a rotton start.

As usual I am still in my coat from nursery run. I went round the new branch of Lidl that opened today, and now I really need to get cleaning and cooking. My parents will be here soon, and it is ds' party tomorrow and I am not properly organised at all.

So, Simply you are younger than me [crosses eyes and tries to work it out]

That was the age my mum had my sister and I! I can't believe she managed at such a young age - but now I see it is perfectly possible When I was 24, I was still being ticked off for not making my bed!

Done most of routine - absolutely depressed by playroom, requires more than rescuing. Will don SAS gear and try again later when kids upstairs having rest. They seem genuinely poorly, which is a relief dd says her throat hurts (that may be from screeching] and ds2 looks a bit white. So at least I am not slack mum for keeping them off. Ds2 is enjoying all ds1's space books, and I think dd is looking forward to a bit of Mummy time. So I must be soft and gentle, not too SAS like.

Starbear · 25/02/2010 10:53

Morning JAS
I going now honest........

Simply · 25/02/2010 14:48

Good afternoon everyone.

swan I was born at the end of the 60s. I used to think that people born in the 70s were young. Now in work we see newbies born in the 80s and 90s! I hope your dd and ds2 are feeling better by now. Perhaps you should take the camouflage gear off in case you scare them, though!

Hi Jas and Starbear. I know what you mean about reading but not taking it all in Jas. That's why I'm not good at doing posts to individuals, I think I'm going to miss someone out when I don't mean to. Sigh!

Right. I need to do some house stuff. I've walked my dog once and mine and a neighbour's dog once today so I feel all walked out! I rec'd this and this in the post today. I ordered them the other day. I should have chosen one or the other but couldn't decide so ordered both. Ooops. If I feel like getting myself organised then I think I'll spend a happy hour menu planning and sorting out a routine for myself.

Starbear · 25/02/2010 16:20

Hi all Simply I love note books and have a variety. Love the green one that you can add to does it take A4? The other day I was thinking posting on here is as close as to a diary that I would ever complete. Jas Yep, it takes me ages to do individual replies. We are here because we want RL to go smoothly, we just happen to have made lovely friends along the way. I have noted Wolf's wedding day so I can be prepared to wish her well on the day! I bet I miss it!

We were watching the Lottery last night when DH commented on the presenter, calling her 'A big old unit!' I had to pull him up because she didn't look much bigger than me and her arms were flabby like mine. I told him that I didn't think his comments were fair as he never comments on blokes and what if I got myself all dressed up would he think 'I'm married to a big old unit' We had a giggle and a hug and he said he wouldn't do it again. BUT I DID go to the gym! I'm going to now comment all the time on how ugly rugby players are So there!

Starbear · 25/02/2010 16:25

Dryer load
W/M load

swanriver · 25/02/2010 16:50

Done
Parents' Eve for 2 dcs in pouring rain
dd fine, motivated polite etc
ds1 had gone from "average" before he broke his leg to "above average" - and teacher said my homeschooling must have been v. good . That has made my day, as usually his teacher regards me with suspicion Ds1's take on matter, as we walked home, was that when he got back to school this term it seemed so interesting after the boringness of home he thought it worth listening

kitchen a bit cleaner, and now I think choc biscuits and telly for all
no idea what's for dinner - tomatoes, carrots, potatoes, kale, so possibly bubble and squeak with cold pot roast, tinned pears and custard.

Starbear arranging playdates is exhausting emotional work,
my diary is still a stranger to me, must talk to it more often
Simply I'm not that old, anyway I am in disguise at moment

swanriver · 25/02/2010 16:54

Star Rugby players in swmming pool (only chance to get to see any as dh is not in slightest sportif) are truly hideous.
The only one of my friends/acquaintances dh has ever thought even pretty was a sculptress in an anorak, the more elegant ones he professes disdain for.

Starbear · 25/02/2010 17:44

Swan what makes me sad is that DH gets chatted up quite often and I don't He is very trim and looks very good for 53yrs.
I once had a very controlling boyfriend I hated every other part of our lives except the pressure he put on me to be fit. I looked fab. DH doesn't have a mean bone in his body towards me. Just that PE teacher looking at a fat kid he likes but shakes his head towards! Do you think DH would allow me to have the ex back part-time juts to get me fit again
