I am trying to buy a kenwood chef but they seem to go from £150 to £550.

What did you buy and what do you use it for.

Would also love to know. Bumping for you tsap.

I have been trying to buy either a kitchen aid or kenwood chef for years but they baffle me so I always give up.

This time I will buy one.

I have a kenwood chef, I use it for baking cakes (all the time) and liquidising soups. Only thing that annoys me about mine is the whisk isn't dishwasher safe so needs washing by hand otherwise it starts loosing its plating and you end up with mucky (steel) in the cakes !

They work forever - so you can pick up decent ones 2nd hand. My mum is about to list one on Ebay as she no longer uses it (just her and dad at home)

Thanks notapizza I have been looking back at old threads to decide if I want a kitchenaid or kenwood.

£50 second hand kenwood chef from ebay has served me well - I use it for making dough for pizza, cakes and biscuits

I got a Kenwood Chef (it's bright orange!) for a wedding present - my 30th anniversary is in May and it's still going strong - I use it mostly for cakes, and the liquidiser for smoothies. I got a mincing attachment with it, which I have never used though.

squashedfrogs · 20/02/2010 17:46

I've got an old Kenwood Chef and my parents still have the one they got as a wedding present 40 years ago this year. They are fab!

Not sure about the new ones but my mum has mincing attachments, liquidiser, breadhook, whisk and 'K' beater and they have all been well used over the last 40 years. I just have the breadhook, whisk and 'K' beater. I would love a new one but the old one is still going strong so can't justify it.

Rusty, my mum uses the mincing attachment for making breadcrumbs out of stale/dry bread. I used to love doing that for her [saddo emoticon!]

My Mum and Dad bought me one for Christmas after my Ds was born so it's more than 11 years old. It's never been out of its box!

wastwinsetandpearls · 20/02/2010 18:01

shame on you solo.

Is this what I need? Can I add bits to it at a later date if I want to?

OP posts:
notapizzaeater · 20/02/2010 18:30

Yes, thats what you need, and yes you can add bits as you need them (though I've never bothered with the other bits)

wastwinsetandpearls · 20/02/2010 18:58

Thanks, I will order it now.
