organising website?

I need some kind of diary that works for me, i'm thinking it will probably be a website somewhere.

I am a SAHM with two preschool DDs and a DP who works.

I need somewhere to keep track of all appointments, DPs shifts etc, as well as "optional" things, eg playgroups that I go to if DD is in the right mood that day or events i will go to if I get a babysitter and am not too tired. I also need to plan menus and shopping and keep to do and shopping lists. Some way of keep records of what HAS happened would be good too, eg DD1s progress with reading or if DD2 has a bad night of sleep. A budgetting area would be good too.

There must be a better way than my usual having the scedules of all the local community centres and surestarts tucked in the back of my diary along with scribbled on bits of paper and a calendar that makes little sense once I have crossed things out/drawn arrows etc?

I use office outlook for most of that stuff.

I use the calender, and colour code, use reoccuring appointments for birthdays, there are task lists etc and as I am always checking emails etc it is always there, don't have to log into it.

It pings up with reminders a few days in advance and keeps on until you dismiss the things.

Paper calendar - ooh yuck! You need to go digital and get rid of all those nasty little bits of paper.

Get a Gmail account. You can use the calendar and store all you contacts online. Remember the Milk is a brilliant online to do list too.

Being a total organisational/IT geek, I bought an iPhone about six weeks ago and it has totally revolutionised my life (ha ha!). Would definitely recommend. It is worth every penny!

I bought an Ipod touch (didn't want to trade in my phone as use camera function most and its rubbish on iphone) - Use if for everything, events, dd's dance class, birthdays (can reoccur) etc, and anything else 'theres an app for that!'

have you looked at tiddlywiki?

OurLadyOfPerpetualSupper · 19/02/2010 21:04

Er that's a complete revelation to me re. itouch - I use it for online shopping and MN .

Hadn't even occured to me to use it as an organizer.

Is the itouch exactly like an iphone, only not a phone? not that I can afford one anyway, but jealous of my sisters iphone.

That tiddlywiki looks useful, but I will have to add learning how to use it to my to do list.

I use my iPod touch too for almost everything. DH and I have a .mac account which syncs out calendars and contacts so that I know what he's doing and he knows what we are doing, but I think you can do something similar with Google calendars etc.

The productivity app I use on the Touch is ToDo which syncs with www.toodledo.com which is better on the Touch than the web version as you can double enter contexts (ie I have a 'Shopping - Greengrocer' and a 'Shopping - Tesco' which sometimes has things on both things depending on where I'm going first.

I just put everything in in contexts and also have different colours for different things in the calendar.

PigeonPie · 19/02/2010 21:31

Yes, the Touch is just like the iPhone, but without the 'phone. DH has an iPhone, but I just don't need one atm and the Touch is perfect for my needs (also I got it with my Nectar points from Argos, so I don't think I had to spend a penny on it!).

Remember the milk looks brill though. It seems to work well with google stuff, and as I use chrome and googlemail, that is a good thing!
