I think he needs to learn EVERYTHING from scratch. Yesterday was the last straw. He is a teacher so is on half term this week and just took DD to the dentist in the morning, he had at least 4 hours in which to sort a few things out.

I came home from work - via the dentist after having a wisdom tooth out - to find that he had had a go at doing the washing up. The result was as follows:

  • The washing up that I had done the previous night and left on the drainer to dry, still there.
  • Glasses, saucepans and mugs drying on the drainer, but not upside down so they all had little puddles of water in them.
  • My rubber gloves underneath all the drying washing up, one inside out and soaked through yeuch
  • The water still in the sink, mixed with milk.
  • When the water was drained, there was loads of porridge in the sink.
  • Recycling not done and left on the windowsill.
  • Surfaces not wiped, stuff not put away.

SCREAMMM!!

He then went straight out to football so I couldn't even have a go at him!

I have a bloody good mind to send him back to his mother and tell her that she did a crap job and needs to sort him out!

Yes, send him to me and I'll sort him out! I have actually managed to get my DH to do most things without being told. Not always to any great standard but at least he can see when there is something that needs doing. Sometimes it is best to leave little notes stating exactly what needs to be done - a few things at a time. If it is not second nature to him he will appreciate having it written down.

PS If you have a son, then make sure he cancook, clean, wash, iron before he goes off to uni!
