What will take the sticky stuff from sellotape off wood?

DH wrapped DDs unpainted dollhouse for shipping and stuck packing tape directly onto the raw MDF which hasn't been painted yet.
Now it's all tacky and I can't paint it like that...

What will take the tacky residue off?

Thanks

I've heard that sticky stuff remover is dead good - I know that you can get it at Lakeland, but am sure that you can also get it in the laundry aisle of most supermarkets with the stain removers.

Hope you can get it off! Doll's house sounds fab - especially if you can customise it

light sandpaper

Sticky stuff remover - tis fab!

I'd just sand it too - anything liquid might soak into the MDF and be an ishoo when painting.

Ether! Although im not sure if you can buy it in the chemist anymore. We used to use this at the vets (we don't use it for anaesthetic anymore but would keep a bottle for getting selotape residue off of the op table as we would use it to tape tubes and wires in place etc). Comes off brilliant, works for stickers too.

Probably can't buy it in the chemist anymore - maybe a similar sort of solvent would do it - paint thinners maybe?

Hairspray

Thanks everyone!
I'll try sanding it first and see what happens. Thing is I had already sanded and primed it with watered down PVA so I might have to repeat that once I get the sticky off...grrr

I've got to finish it.
Started it when DD1 was not yet 2 and she's 6 and a bit now .

Am quite proud of it tho' as I designed it myself.

Will maybe post a pic in 2020 when it's done...
