Good morning

Today looks like

Get dressed properly
Go to library till 12.45

will think about what I need houseworky later
woken up at WRONG time by ds2, who is now annoying us officially (2 weeks now of bedwetting etc) New strategy in place for tomorrow, supervised by mum.

NEW STRATEGY for ds2
Downstairs straightaway, no snuggling in parents' bed, dressed warmly, put in playroom to play with his toys if he wakes BEFORE 7.am. Breakfast in our house is not officially till 7.30.
Consequently both dh and I are in a very grumpy mood, as we had a fidget chatting to us from 6.30.
I'm sure you all do better than us and are bright and cheery from 6.30

bbafter lunch

OFM - I think you need to give yourself time for it to sink in. Like you say its not unexpected but actually being told it can seem a shock when it actually happens. It will be a positive though as now she has a diagnosis she will get the help she needs to progress and you will know that there is a reason for things happening.

Forget the house, its not important, make sure DD is ok after the last two days and take some time for yourself and for you and DH to think about things. Take care of yourself

I took DD to disco and a great time was had by all. She and her friend danced the whole time, she was great and it certainly made a change from the usual after school slog.

Much catch up though on what I have missed doing.

Back later or tomorrow

TeaMonster · 11/02/2010 19:34

OFM Big, bigs hugs from me. I know that this is going to be a long, long road, but you have a name for what is wrong and a diagnosis, so many people on the spectrum just dont get the help they need.

You will always do what is best for your family and with the right support she can be what ever she wants to be. She just needs to be in the right envirnment for her nad in order for you to get this support you have just had to experiance the horror of diagnosis.

Hoopefully you can get a statement put in place and find the place ehere DD get be herself and then you watch her intelligence will shine through. The right school will help her handle her social skills. MadDads mum worked at a SS, so I do have a little knowldge.

We are all here for you anytime

I think that Aspergers is a very wide spectrum isn't it - I think my darling ds2 is definintely on the ASD spectrum somewhere, he does all the things - stimming (hand flapping), getting into hysterics about tiny things going wrong, v. focused on some things, completely distracted by others. Smothering with affection one minute, out of orbit the next. I know him so well, I don't even notice that he's not quite like everyone else. And he's intelligent too. There are so many thousands of variants in the way we all behave.

I know that sometimes a stressful situation can cause him to have complete breakdown, he's been lucky in having very devoted teachers. I'm sure the statement is the best best thing for her, just to get her the best attention.

ofm a big big hug from me too. DOn't know what to say really but on the positive side at least DD will now be able to get access to the support she needs.

Wolfcub · 11/02/2010 20:21

swan you have just described DS to a T. If it's any reassurance at the moment the GP seems to think this behaviour is no problem despite nursery having concerns.

Starbear · 11/02/2010 21:04

Evening all OFM BIG hugs. As I said before its tough being a parent. She has your love & care which so important.
Even if they are no where on the anything line, there is always something to worry about. For me it was the mates, now it's a emotional issue about sausages V. Fish Fingers!!! Does it ever stop.
MC Glad DD enjoyed disco I bet you did too! I hope you had a little bop it uses up calories.
Wolf Hugs to you too! Nothing more I can add that you don't already know.
Ruby If your happy they I'm happy
Swan Ta! BUT none of the above. I think in the back of my mind I thought about keeping my stuff somewhere else because I'm not just his wife and his mother!!!BUT where did that thought take me!! I'm off to put to look one more place for that Birth Cert. It could be in a radom handbag!

Wolfcub · 11/02/2010 21:26

star good luck with the birth certificate hunt

Starbear · 11/02/2010 21:50

FOUND IT! In a box with may past life Interail tickets, tickets to Japan old diaries old boyfriends letters. Within that a folder with all my other certificates O'levels, 30 yards swimming and Domestic safety (yes, you've guessed it only the girls did it) Thank you and good night.

Starbear · 11/02/2010 21:51

Just to add, imagine being my Mum. I must have been a nightmare with lost stuff and weird moods

swanriver · 11/02/2010 22:20

swan def not bright and cheery from 6.30am in this house- i refuse to move from my bed before 7am!

wendy good luck with the interview

OFM glad you have got a diagnosis for dd allowing you to access the support you and she need.

today was a uni day- and i had breakfast again :-) am finding my mornings a lot less stressful with having breakfast.

done today
tidy
hoover
breakfast
lunche
dinner
wash up
sort dry washing
load washer
unload washer
make beds
sorted out top and bottom of airing cupboard. just need to sort out the middle of it.
rubbish out

also decided i would go out and buy myself a decent outdoor coat. went to the mountain warehouse at the outlet and have got a snow coat for £20 in the sale. very pleased as i tried it out when we went to jujitsu and i didnt feel the cold even when i walked to the shop. thought it would be useful to get one as it half term and i don't want to be stuck indoors and usually i get cold and come back long before dc want to . so hopefully i'll be able to spend more time outdoors next week

off to get tomorrows dinner out the freezer and then off to bed, last uni day tomorrow til after half term
