How do I remove ink from a plastic doll?

The dds were given an original Tiny Tears by a family friend. It has all its original clothes and was in lovely condition.I have just picked it up to put it away and discovered ink stains on its back.I think it had been lying next to some old photos and the ink has leached out onto the doll. How can I remove it? I've tried toothpaste, nail varnish remover and ordinary soap so far,but nothing seems to work. Can anyone suggest anything?I feel awful that the doll has survived nearly 50 years unscathed until it got given to us.

Thankyou.

Hairspray? My DCs have a terrible habit of drawing all over the leather sofas with biro and hairspray tends to get it out.
