You can buy some very cute stitch markers, and needle cases. Try john lewis or if you have one near you; a good wool shop, they're getting a bit rare I'm afraid.

Maybe someone will come along in a minute with a good link.

You could also try posting in a knitting topic(I'm sure there must be one)
Good luck

Stitch markers are for when you are knitting something a bit complicated and need to keep track of where you are in the pattern - the pattern tells you to slip a stitch marker on to the needle and you move it as you go along. You can of course just use a scrap of wool ... or you could use a darling beaded one. Try www.atomicknitting.co.uk.

Knitting-needle rolls are also very sweet, or a knitting bag. If she is a keen knitter she might appreciate a vintage pattern book - if you can't turn one up quickly it's possible to find out-of-copyright patterns to print off the net.

I have to say the best knitting present I was ever given is actually quite a boring plasticky one - it's a row-counter.

I'm knitting obsessed but have to say that the only knitting related pressies I'd want are.... nice yarn!

Don't get a knitting book there will only ever be one (if any) pattern she'll want to make from it.

I've never used stitch markers.

But one thing I found handy recently was a little plastic guage that you poke needles through to check the size! Very handy for circular needles and double pointed needles that don't have the size on.

Oh and for xmas my mum got me a lovely antique embroidered pillow case for keeping current projects in nice and clean. Something like that thats for her knitting but not out and out KNITTING iyswim.
