Dotgreen · 01/02/2010 08:29

Morning all off to work have a good day. Snow here but only a sprinkle

swanriver · 01/02/2010 09:40

Dcs to school, breakfast cleared, trousers turned up, school trip money, waterbottles, new PE shoes, library books, laundry on, vp and piano for 2 dcs supervised

too cold and frosty to garden (snow last night) as per last night's plan [drat)

Just trying to stop today turning into one long unproductive bleugh
determined to get it all out of way by 12
Radio 3 on
think I will start with piano practise to motivate me,
then walk to get Dd's long lost recorder book from music shop

Poor Wolf - that sounds awful, is it plans that are whirling in your head? Could you take some time today to work through some of the things that assume gigantic proportions at night and sort of try and defuse them in cold light of day? Hope you get some sleep too.

TeaMonster · 01/02/2010 10:33

Wolf I feel for you I really do, mini is full of cold, so we got minimal sleep.

I am house bleuring, then I have to go and take mum to hospital, otherwise I would be tucked up snuggling with minimad

swanriver · 01/02/2010 11:49

swept floor
made beds
moved clutter back to rightful homes
put away washing
another load in
hung out washing
front room tidy
tidied hall
tidied 3 bedrooms

unfortunately still mostly awful - every room seems to pointing its skinny fingers at me...and saying but what about this and this and this

going to give up now for a bit and do something more soul inspiring ie: long walk

wendyhappysmile · 01/02/2010 12:02

wolf hope you are sleeping
swan That was good advice, I will try to do a morning of non house stuff i.e. yoga or running I think. Trouble is I seem to end up pottering doing small jobs with no sense of purpose and not tackling anything major like cleaning up!! LOL
dyls hope interview has gone well
tea hope mini is ok - perhaps he was feeling rubblish last week too?
threetimemummy inspiring list again! Nice to see you back

Well have done little this morning. Am very very tired as didn't get much sleep last night or night before, just seem to be drifting between sleep and awake.

OverflowingMum · 01/02/2010 13:10

afternoon all

wolf sorry about insomnia...hope you get some rest today

swan I wanted to garden today too...but ground fozen solid!

TM hope Mums hospital visit goes OK...

Dyls good luck with interview, which will be over now...so I suppose I mean hope it went well LOL

threetimes really hoping we don't get more snow....wouldn't fit with my "it's so almost spring" philosophy at all LOL

well, I woke up feeling quite low
I decided against going for that job in the end...closing date was yesterday and I didnt apply....hoping it was the right decsion,
In the end , DH and I decided that holding down two demanding careers and raising 6 children wasjust too much at the moment...

So back to major moneysaving, and trying to raise a few extra pennies...but it's all good.

Ds2 in very stroppy mood too....

DD1 at home, better than she was but still not well...

Am trying to make myelf feel more positive....

Going to do some knitting now...

still loads to do though.

House seems to be a never ending tip no matter how hard I try....

....bbl....

wendyhappysmile · 01/02/2010 13:23

Glad you have made the decision, OFM - it's so difficult though isn't it, I am the same whenever a job comes up! How you cope with your brood keeping on top of things I don't know! I find it hard enough to be positive with just my two children. Hope DD1 better soon.
Still pottering not achieving much, except burning the veggie sausage casserole

swanriver · 01/02/2010 14:26

Productive afternoon in the end (I always pick up speed when I'm running out of time LOL)
food shopped and menuplanned (on hop)for week
ths week is going to be
tuna pasta tonight (with loyd grossman sauce)
chilli con carne tomorrow night with rice and salad and rice for non-chilli fans
pork and apricot casserole & veg with baked potatoes Wednesday night
fish cakes & veg Thursday night
Friday parsnip and apple soup with cheese scones and cheese on toast/boiled eggs for fusspots
Saturday have to reboot on Friday - but there is some rhubarb
Sunday ditto

have picked up recorder music, music stand, had brisk walk, met friend at supermarket, bought ingredients for ds1 lunchbox school trip tomorrow

You must feel a tremendous relief OFM to have made the decision together, don't feel guilty, enjoy the freedom it will offer

now cup of coffee

swanriver · 01/02/2010 14:33

I was talking to a English Lit Secondary School teacher yest Wendy at bowling, it did sound v. full on, exciting though. I ws asking her about how she dealt with difficult children in class - whether she changed lesson plan or ploughed on regardless if everyone was fidgeting - (just tactics for library and communion class) - it was all very interesting - she said it was like being an Actor going on stage every day, pulling your audience together.

swanriver · 01/02/2010 15:16

piano practise done
now feeling v. positive
after school plan

park with snacks
home to tellyfree play/homework including using dd's bead kit (or else it's going to be declutteredin bin-
encourage ds1 to listen to horrible tudor cd
send ds2 to read about rocks

ds1 to cubs later
put away stuff in my bedroom whilst dcs playing nicely with each other LOL

dylsmum1998 · 01/02/2010 15:36

wolf i hope you got some sleep

ofm glad you made a decision on the job, i think you do great just getting your brood dressed in the morning!

swan i like the analogy of teaching being like an actor.

i got out this morning and my car wouldnt start! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO so phoned ds school to explain why he was going to be late and that he was on his way- this was 15mins before he was due in, no way he can walk it in that time.
walked dd to nursery then managed to catch a bus to uni got to interview with minutes to spare. same maths test as the interview last week. so i know i at least have the triangle question right this time
i feel the interview went really bad. we were seperated into 3's for the group presentation then into 6's for group interview questions. i was with the person that wouldnt shut up! i felt i didnt say much, and after car probs was having trouble concentrating as well.
home again, got in car so could call the breakdown people and it started first time!!!! stupid thing. when i get a job first thing to go is that!

came home checked gttr and i have been accepted on to the PGCE (last weeks interview). so feeling much better about screwing up this mornings one, at least i have something

dylsmum1998 · 01/02/2010 15:37

oops sorry for the emotion dump turned out longer than i thought

Wolfcub · 01/02/2010 16:16

dyls yay on the PGCE. I am sure that today has gone better than you thought. The interviewers were probably not impressed by the person with verbal diahrea (sorry that's a word I just can't spell)

I did get a couple of hours sleep this morning but feel rotten so have taken tomorrow off. Its been such a hard 6 months or so that I think I have taken as much as I can cope with.

swan good going on the meal planning

ohm it's great that you were able to make a decision together.

done
wm unloaded reloaded and on
ds picked up from granny's
emails about work dealt with
budgets done

scattyspice · 01/02/2010 16:25

Hi all.

dyl what a stressful day! I would hate a group interview, sounds horrible. Good news about PGCE though, good for you .

wolf Poor you, hope you can conquer the insomnia. Are you worrying about things?

OFM I bet you feel relived. It would have been a whole lot of stress!

DS teacher says he has mild learning difficulties . They are arranging some help which will follow him into yr3 too so that is good. She has given us things to work on at home. She said he works very hard and doesn't seem discouraged but is not able to keep up with his group. Poor DS.

To do
floors
laundry

Makingchanges · 01/02/2010 17:16

Afternoon all

Dyls - Congratulations on getting on the PGCE course - thats fantastic. Was the interview today for a different course?

Scatty - Poor DS but at least it is being picked up on and a plan of action being put into place

OFM - Well Done on making a decision. I too am in awe of you getting your brood together when I struggle so much with one

Swan we too have a bead set and more often than not it ends up with beads rolling all over the floor. She is only allowed to play with it when I'm feeling generous.

Hello to everyone else

Don't feel like i've achieved much today. Done food shopping this morning and been to pick up parcel then to gym, but knee started playing up again so spoke to Personal Trainer from the other week who thinks i've done something to my quads and so she has given me some stretches to try and advised me what equipment not to use so looks like another frustrating week. DH did come to the gym to meet me for lunch though so that we a nice afternoon.

To do tonight

Make Tea - three different meals tonight - I hate that, Don't know why we aren't having the same thing but DH has decided he wants something no one else likes.
Sort out bags full of odds and ends that are cluttering up the hole
Menu plan - Have decided to use freezer this week so need to decided what will best go one which day depending on hectic schedule this week
Try and make a head start on assignment
Put some washing in machine

Wolfcub · 01/02/2010 17:27

makingchanges the rule in my house is that if dp wants something no-one else likes (or even that only he and ds likes) then he has to make it himself

OP posts:
dylsmum1998 · 01/02/2010 17:52

making changes- yes the course today was for the gtp, still teaching but a diff route and i couldnt decide which way to go so applied for both. looks like decision is made for me based on today

Makingchanges · 01/02/2010 18:08

dyl - You never know. I know some have been successful on both and then had the luxuary of deciding which one to go for. I think they both have their advantages. I hope you get a good result for both.

wendyhappysmile · 01/02/2010 18:12

makingchanges I never cook more than one thing - if they don't like it it's tough they get nothing! I come from the war time school of thought regarding food I'm afraid! Everything I make is yummy enough to eat so eat it!!!
dyls well done!! brilliant news
swan yes, teaching is like acting definitely! But hard work when you get home, that's the only thing I couldn't do.
Right BB tomorrow

swanriver · 01/02/2010 18:20

Afternoon going really well here

Dylsmum good news about PGCE & I'm sure they will have noticed group dynamics and marked down the non-stop talker.,
I think you did really well to deal with stress of car and GET to interview.

Scatty it's the summer birthday factor, a friend of mine found this really frustrating withher son, he was 15 days short of being in year below. I think he has completely caught up in year 5 - he was never behind really, just in the wrong year ifysim, but he still caught up. My brthday is late July too.

scattyspice · 01/02/2010 18:44

Thats reassuring swan.
