Hello Hello!!

Buy day today Off to the docs at 920 for my 25 wk checkup.

MC - how is your knee this morning?

TM - I forgot to say its god to hear your Mum is on the road to recovery. Good luck with THE TALK today

OFM - Are you feeling better today?

Wolf - Hopefully DS let you sleep in today! Is he feeling a little chirpier?

Scatty - Sadly that is daily!! Wow on the scale model!! I have heard people say "yes, we have a project due on Friday" and I always think, um, no, your DC has a project due on Friday!!! How old is your DS?

Star - good luck getting the application signed today.

As for me, well I have printed my list and it i in a plastic sleeve and I can cross it off with a whiteboard marker, so shall be doing that rather than bore you all!!

But I thought I would still post my errands/non cleaning on here:

Fill in preschool app for J
PTA stuff
Online shopping for groceries

Right off to jolly along the DCs to get dressed etc so we get to the docs n time!!

3TM

scattyspice · 29/01/2010 07:57

Morning wolf early bird! Thanks for the thread. Working from home sounds far less stressful.

Tea Oh dear. I hope you can have a productive talk with the pre school today. He is only young, surely they've seen it all before. I hope you can work something out.

star LOL at the sandcastle.

Today:
DC to school
work
Lidl
DH going away for weekend (sad)
laundry etc

swanriver · 29/01/2010 09:31

Feeling v. tired/crumpled after night out and catching up this morning - but bookclub was very swish - like dinner in French restaurant (someone's gourmand husband cooked everything). I didn't feel up to any of it alas.

Done
mad dash to finish everything this morning - ds2 was sooo proud of his story of Rumpelstilskin
but everyone at school now

I like your original list Threetmes it helps me

Tea there's no reason why he shouldn't have bad days at school as well as at home, and THEY should have a strategy. What Scatty said.

Wolf have a good day and thanks for thread

Star I have surrendered to imperfection.
I didn't even query ds's washing machine design despite it lacking essential features.

Scatty No amount of writing or drawing is a good as going out and seeing or doing something on topic. I think school did something about nursing/Crimean war when ds was younger and what they remembered was dressing up as soldiers and nurses and the battlefield.

Ah housework - where was I?
put away washing up
put away laundry
put away homework mess
wash some clothes
dinner is more casserole
piano
book

busy afternoon too after pickup
and busy Sat morning so going to be calm now

swanriver · 29/01/2010 09:40

Also Star brilliant that you've done application, it is those last annoying hoops, people signing off etc, but it will soon be over. Have a good weekend.

Wolfcub · 29/01/2010 10:05

Well done star swan it sounds like you need to take some time for you today

Morning all

My day off today so errand day I suspect.

To Do

Washing in dry. Another load in.
Jacket Potato in - What to have on it (I'm trying to avoid bread so living off jacket potato for lunches - suspect may need to find something else next week)
Take DH's key to keycutters to get one cut for me as mine is no longer working and I couldn't lock the door yesterday
DD to nursery after lunch (need to find something in fridge more exciting than cheese sandwich for her)
Go to my nan's to help her with her new slow cooker purchase - I'm sure she'll never use it as she lives on her own and is in all day - She tends to cook in the microwave.
Emergency tidy all around as we have guests coming this evening and house has been neglected some what this week.

I'm missing my gym session today as I had promosed myself I would get on Friday's whilst DD at nursery. It is better today so I'm going to try and go tomorrow whilst DD at dane class, although I suspect I will have to wait a while longer before I get to do any running.

Star - I suspect you will get a session out of the gym before me at this rate. Good luck with the application. I bet you're pleased you've finished it, hope you get it handed in.

tea - sorry to hear about mini - No advice but I hope the talk goes well

Swan - I would love to be a member of a bookclub and have a reason for immersing myself in literature. However I am rubbish if I have to read something that I'm not enjoying and feel I would give up. I think doing an English degree knocked my love of reading out of my a little, either that or lack of time.

3times - I always find your list motivating too. I like to see what I could be doing if I moved myself a little.

Wolf - Enjoy your day working at home

Scatty - Hope you have a good day

TeaMonster · 29/01/2010 10:33

Morning all

Sorry I have been very down as you can guess and not being a good fly friend.

I am at the school this afternoon anyway, so we will see how it goes. Just looking after everyone has got on top of me. Mother wants me to do everything ie shopping, pack her case for holiday, take her shopping, find a new wheelchair for her, take her to appointments and trying to fit it all in along with everything else, makes me grumpy as I get no time to myself!!!

swanriver · 29/01/2010 10:57

I'mnot surprised you feel grumpy Tea

bossy (and glam)bookclub ladies told me I should buy smart new clothes from somewhere like Toast, so in the effort to do something for myself as you suggested wolf I have been browsing various clothes sales.
now have a headache and hate all clothes....It all seems such a waste of time, much prefer garden centres.
will return to previous method of smartening myself, dash into Per Una, buy something red and woolly and something black and long.
Also need shoes, down to one pair of muddy slip ons and I pair of trainers particularily hate shopping for shoes they do not interest me and get worn into the ground almost immediately.

kitchen tidied
beds made
homework tidied
bin emptied
dw emptied
radio 2 on

swanriver · 29/01/2010 11:03

MC - did lots of us do Eng Lit at uni? I did.
bb after tea

Makingchanges · 29/01/2010 11:09

swan my mum went to debenhams for a personal shopper when told she needed to smarten up made such a difference and it's free if that would interest you?

swanriver · 29/01/2010 11:12

Last night someone mentioned a Jigsaw personal shopper
You're right that's what I need..just as long as it's not my sister...

Wolfcub · 29/01/2010 12:00

swan and mc I did eng lit in my first year probably about 50/50 with other course

swan I'm not sure I like the sound of your bookclub ladies. You are who you are, and you are lovely. You do not need clothes from some poncy shop to be lovely. If you hate clothes shopping that is not doing something for yourself. My advice is to go and have a cuppa and a cake at the garden centre, buy a nice plant and maybe some wellies!

tea have a huge hug from me. I wish there was something I could do to help. Let me know if there is.

OP posts:
scattyspice · 29/01/2010 12:42

swan I shop mainly from catalogues La Redoute is my favourite at the moment, especially the soft grey pages. I literally buy a whole outfit so that everything goes together (an no imagination is required). I also do this with Next catalogue. Shoes wise I wear boots in winter (Rocket Dog tan suede boots from TKMaxx)and converse trainers in summer .

MC I would love to try a personal shopper at Debenhams (love Debenhams but at Metro Centre so rarely go).

wolf I am impressed by all the literay brains on here .

tea Your Mum seems to becoming very needy. Don't feel guilty about saying no, the more you do for her, the more helpless she'll believe she is.

TeaMonster · 29/01/2010 12:55

I have had THE TALK at preschool. Mini went in to an incandecent rage and hurt a fellow pupil and two teachers - arg............

We are keeping an eye on things for the moment

Starbear · 29/01/2010 16:04

Afternoon all TM Not looking forward to the time I'm in the same boat. Mum is fab but she walks so much slower than last year and she has more health problems. I remember her running around for my Gran, she got so stressed. My Gran was so bad that she assaulted another resident in the home and got sent to the old peoples bostal! (not really just further away which was hard for us to travel to)
Swan I love garden centres everything fits if your ever my way I'll take you and the restofthecult to Petersham Nurseries. It is fab!
I have also done a debenhams personal Shopper and she was really good and I looked smart for over two years with the items I bought.
MC I can go to the gym on Tuesday.
Application signed and delivered. Bosses very supportive and positive. They don't want me to really leave which is a good sign. I wish I could give them both a positive report. We don't do 360 degree reports in the police force. I think that's what it's called. I really really hated my last boss and it was quite right that he didn't get promotion. The application process was very good for me it made me realise so many good things about my work. (very negative before christmas) My school is the 6th most improved school nationally from 4 years ago with serious gang problems and dare I say it two pupils murdered.Even if I don't get it I'm much happier.
Well I'm off to wash my hair and go out in the cold to have dinner with old friends
have a good date night everyone.

threetimemummy · 29/01/2010 16:41

TM you poor thing - It sounds like yo need a good cuppa and a block of chocolate

swan If it makes you feel better, my approach to shopping is to stick my fingers in my ears and go lalalalalala..i even do groceries online!! I HATE shopping!

MC I am impressed that you even HAVE a gym membership!!

Star Glad you are feeling better about your job. Working sucks when you no longer enjoy it, if that makes sense? LOL

Wolf i like reading but am more of a maths type person..what else did you stud? ooh ooh ooh..and I have to ask you all since we are talking books, what is your favourite book??

Well, I did laugh at you guys liking my list!! Thank you I often lurk at brekkie time to see if the thread is up - is anyone allowed to put it up? But really, the list looks impressive but isnt!! LOL. It really is 5 minute spurts. Remember I am 25 week reg so I am exhausted as neither of the there DC seep during the day. I have no doubt at all it will all change once Smudge comes along. gotta love the way a newborn throws a saner in the works!! And then I will jut about get organised and the other DC's ill have school starting at 9 in September rather than the late afternoon preschool DC1 has atm, and I will be knackered as i will actually have to get dressed by about 8 rather than the current eleven!! I o housework best i my pj's!! (Flyady or no flylady!!)

threetimemummy · 29/01/2010 16:43

Clearly my typing has gone out the window today...sigh

Makingchanges · 29/01/2010 18:07

3times - My favourite book of all time is to kill a mockingbird. My fave at the moment is The time travellers Wife or P.S. I love you cos I cried all the way through. - Yes anyone can put up the thread

Tea I hope things get better with Mini

Well I have spent three hours clearing the mess away and have to admit I have told DD off for the mess that she is making. DH is also going to get told when he comes home as his tidying is moving things from one place to another so most of today has been moving things from there and putting them away. Why would you put DVDs on the stairs, they don't live upstairs and why put jumpers in a pile outside the bedroom door instead of in the bedroom (the cat found those first so now they all need washing

Anyway I have been ruthless and thrown out two black bags full of stuff that I have no homes for and don't think we really need. I have emptied the fridge and disinfected it and been shopping for some alcohol for tonight (we are currently being healthy but our guests aren't)

Anyway DH wanted to go away this weekend but I have decided that we aren't (of he can go on his tod) and we are going to blitz this house. I am worried what its going to be like in September when I am out from 7-7, DH will have to pull his finger out then I think.

Anyway enough moaning, off to tidy some more before friends come at 7pm. Back later, hope you all have a good date night whatever you do.

scattyspice · 29/01/2010 18:38

tea Hopefully it was a one off.
3times You're doing really well. Anyone can start the thread.
star LOL at looking good for 2 yrs! Good news about work though (sounds like a scary school).
MC I have had to adapt to dh and his little ways, there is no changing them .

Well ds came home from school with a letter saying that he is to be put on the schools SEN list . His teacher spoke to dh but he didn't really understand . I guess I need more info.

Also dh has just gone for a weekend mountaineering in Scotland with his friend. I don't know how people cope when they wave their husbands off to war, it took us 1/2 hr to say good bye .

3times the majority of my degree was international politics and the third world. My masters was postcolonial politics - both totally useless to me now. I was also fairly heavily involved in politics at Uni but am not allowed to be now because of job.
Hmm, favourite book is difficult as I like lots of different genres. One of my favourite non-fiction books is The Prize Winner of Defiance Ohio, basically it's the story of how one woman raised a family clipping coupons and entering competitions. I have read lots of good fantasy lately but I also love Latin American Magical Realism and biographies and travel books - particularly ones which involve motorbikes. Basically if it's written down I'm a sucker for it! I am very much NOT a maths type person.
tea I am sorry you've had a rough time. DS as you know has moments like that quite a lot but nursery don't tell me, he does! So in some respects I think it's positive that they are talking to you about it. Hopefully its a one off. DS seems to get triggered to this sort of thing when he is frightened or anxious. Could mini have been provoked or upset by a teacher or fellow pupil?
star congratulations on getting the app signed off and in.

I have done lots today including work. Currently I have 1 chicken poaching in the slow cooker and another carcass making stock on the stove, the cupboards are stocked and if it snows a blizzard tomorrow you don't need to worry about me for 6 weeks!
