Range cookers / induction hobs

Not sure if I am posting this in the right place so please bear with me. I don't mumsnet a lot but have been searching and searching for reviews on this and getting no-where and I thought - what I really need is the opinion of other women!

We need to replace our cooker and I am looking for a 90cm wide range cooker - the two I have narrowed it down to are one from Stoves and one from Rangemaster.

My questions are: can anyone share any experiences or knowledge about these (esp these two brands) or have any particular recommendations?

Two: Is it worth paying the extra for an induction hob?

Many thanks for any contributions to my muddled thoughts!

Hi Flipper. I don't have a range cooker, but I do have an induction hob. It's wonderful. The most brilliant thing is that it's so easy to clean. With my old gas hob, I was always trying to get crumbs out from all the indentations (felt like getting the hoover to it sometimes!). The induction hob is really easy to use, totally controllable and just amazing. Wouldn't go back to a gas hob.

Induction hobs are amazing! I got to try one out when I went to visit Electrolux with work and they do this test with a frying pan that's cut in half. They crack an egg half over the pan and half over the hob and the bit in the pan fries and and the bit on the hob stays raw. It just demonstrates that they're really safe because its the electro-magnetic field that creates the heat in the pan rather than the hob itself which heats up. So if you put your hand on the hob when you're cooking it'll be cool still.
Sorry...appliances excite me slightly

I have the rangemaster 90 toledo and love it.

It has the 5 gas burners and the option of using a solid grill plate over 2 burners as a griddle.

It has a good build quality and the space is very practical - 3 cooking zones, 2 ovens and the grill.

Shout if you have any further questions

Induction, Induction, Induction....

I read once that when someone has had the Induction, they'll never go back to anything else and you can't shut them up about them either

So true.

The timers for each plate, rapid boil, boil to simmer automatically, SO EASY to clean, child lock...

I left my old house with my induction and DH wanted me to have a new gas hob. I think I was so spolit with the Ind. that nothing was quite ever as good. When he ordered me the latest model...I was a very happy lady!!

Thanks - sounds like some good recommendations there! Tibni - I am looking at the Classic Deluxe 90 from rangemaster as want a slightly more traditional look than the Toledo - but great to know you recommend them as a brand.

So - black or cranberry that is the question.....................

I have the gunmetal colour to match my granite worksurface and because I have a very modern kitchen.

I just knew I didn't want stainless steel because of the cleaning!
