Help! mystery holes in tops/t-shirts

Have noticed for a while small holes in my tops/t-shirts around the area of the belt buckle and assumed it was catching but have ruled that out. Have inspected areas around home that I could possibly be catching this area on like worktop in front of sink etc but can find nothing. Yesterday I wore brand new top for first time and have just taken it out of the washing machine to find about 10 small holes in the bottom centre of it!!! Definitely not the belt/jeans I wore with it yesterday. Could my washing machine in some scary way be targeting only this area of my clothes. Driving me insane and am v about new top! Any help/ideas please??? PS no one else in family's clothes affected?!?!

OK - I know this is an old thread .... BUT!! I found this and am going to try it, the problem persists!

Saw this! Maybe the answer.

Hi Ladies.... I know exactly what is causing those pesky heartbreaking holes in front of your tops..... I bet you all have galaxy granite worktops in your kitchens. (or granite with flecks of shiny pieces throughout the granite). I too have had this problem and was baffled, until I spoke to a friend who had the same problem. She too had shiny bits in her granite worktops, and holes in her tops. Since she has changed house and new worktops, no more holes. Its the shiny pieces, that are acting like shards of glass, cutting through the treads every time you rub agains the worktop.

Hi, I was on another related post to this. Has anyone actually found a solution that you can buy that solves this problem?

Next have cut out the middle man and are selling tee shirts which are already holed. Hmm

Only happens to my t shirts that I wear with jeans. Either they get caught in the zip, or rub up against zip.

Never happened with any other clothes, eg soft or non-zippered trousers or skirts.

Gigimia · 11/05/2017 17:44

Yes, @indaba I think you're right. Either the zip or the jeans. Someone on another thread found a website that sells a cover for the jean button. Hole button cover I think it's called with an accent on the e and it says it's the jean button that causes the holes.

What is it with the Holey tshirt fashion? Maybe the fashion industries cover up for the holes in all the tshirts!!!

I never wear belts and holes only appear in my new tops. I have tops that are yeas old; without holes. It isn't washing as, some tops have holes after one wear and no wash.
Nearly all my tops are from the same shop and I was told by one assistant to see were they were made. All my affected tops were made in Turkey. I am going to take them back.
When you buy goods the phrase that pays is that goods must be of:
“Satisfactory quality, as described, fit for purpose and last a reasonable length of time.”
These are the ''faulty’’ rights. If goods fall down on this, then by law they’re faulty and you have a right of refund or repair. Most of these rights are self-explanatory; for example, if you bought speakers that do work but don’t fit your iPod, they are ''as described’’, unless the box or the shop assistant promised they definitely would work with iPods.
The biggest confusion tends to come over ''lasts a reasonable length of time”. As it’s a subjective law, just ask yourself what a dispassionate, reasonable person would say to your argument.
For example, if you had a 10p whistle that broke down after six months, you’d probably think that that was reasonable, but you wouldn’t say the same if a £5,000 LCD TV went kaput after the same time. The longest the law allows you to complain is up to six years after buying, but it’s rare that things should reasonably last that long.

I also think it’s the buttons/top of fly on jeans.

Ooh sorry, it’s a zombie thread!
