Top of the range Miele- is it worth it?

I think my Bosch washing machine might be on its last lags (it has done 6.5 years hard labour while my two have been small and does about 9 loads a week). I know everyone raves about Mieles and have thought I might replace it with one. I did the "choose your Miele" quiz on the Miele website and the one it recommends is an eye watering £1200. My Q is: is it worth the extra features (e.g. timer; larger drum; stain technology; water and detergent sensors) or is it better to go for a more basic model without said features?

Many thanks for any comments.

I don't think our Miele was quite that much, but I am super pleased with ours - it has water and detergent detection - which tbh I was a bit sceptical about paying more for Miele, but DH chose and bought them. We got a Miele tumble dryer at the same time and I can't believe how much better it is than our previous tumble dryer

Yes Miele is worth it! The previous one my parents had lasted 23 years! Ours (not a superdupa model)has been going strong for 8 years! Will get Miele dryer asa the current one breaks!

Ok so it wasn't a washing machine but we had a built in miele convection oven with microwave function. it was our second oven (we had a big built in normal oven) so it didn't get that much use (big parties and the ocassional heating of baked beans!)

Cost about £1900 - and died a death after 20 months. Not impressed.

Our Miele WM/TD is fab, so quiet compared to the Smeg we had and the others i have used. Ours was £990 in '08

Another Miele fan here - not sure which model ours is but knowing DH it's pretty near the top of the range . It's great - nice and quiet, and (she said, touching wood) don't have to worry about putting it on at night / when you go out as it's guaranteed not to flood. I'd say it's worth the extra.

i don't know about the extra features as i think we have the more basic one, but i can back up your plan to choose miele - we are VERY hard on washing machines and used to spend a fortune replacing / repairing them, literally every year we would need a repair or a new washer....had our miele 6 years now, very happy with it

Thank you for your comments. Looks like it will be a Miele!

My miele is super-basic, although it does have the timer function which is kinda fun but not essential - I do like to know how long the wash will take before I select that cycle, but I could live without it.

All of the miele washing machines to my knowledge have water and detergent sensors.... and they clean better than any other machine I've ever used. We had a series of 'standard' hotpoint/zanussi/bosch machines in the rental properties we lived in whilst we were living in London and the miele beats all of them for cleaning power hands down.

I personally wouldn't bother with the top of the range - our bottom of the range one (cost about £600 ish I think) is still miles better than any other machine I've ever used and there aren't any features that I long for, really. It cleans brilliantly, is super-quiet, very energy efficient, blah blah blah... I think some of the super-top ones charge extra for a tilted wash selection panel, which I think is an utterly pointless feature, but I suppose there are people out there who want this stuff so... not really got any advice except that you can safely buy a bottom of the range miele and still be delighted with it.
