erm, mine has always been like that! I guess it's not meant to be, but it works fine so I've just ignored it (had actually forgotten til I saw your post that perhaps it's not meant to be like that! )

Mine gets like this when it's full of gunk. I take the whole drawer out and give it a good wash and its fine again.

HuwEdwards · 13/01/2010 16:09

it's blocked. Pull the drawer out and you'll see either the holes in the drawer are gunked up or the pipe from the drawer into the machine is.

Cleaning it is definitely a man's job, if you have one

When the washing machine washes stuff it sloshes lots of water into the drawer to get the detergent out and down the tubes to the drum. If it's a bit clogged up in there then water will hang around in the conditioner bit because that bit has a valve.

Just pull it out and give it a clean, you'll be surprised how dirty something that is supposed to clean stuff can get.

Thanks Huw are you one? Do you want to do it for me as I am a little flower!

So many revelatory moments - you can get little packets of "washing machine servicing" powder, which cleans out your pipes . I did that once - you can put them in your dishwasher too. I have a box at home - will do it tonight.

I think I bought it in Savers.

really sticky i have been wanting something like that for ages.....

Mine never did this until I "economised" and used washing powder instead of liquid/bung it in with the washing stuff. A good clean will clear it though.

Take the drawer out, clean it and the slot it has come from, then do a service wash. This is a high temperature wash (no special cycle just whatever has a high temp) which will flush any residues out. Manufacturers have their own recommendations for how frequently to do this and also recommend that you put detergent at the same time. I pop some powder in and/ot soem bleach and do a 90 cycle. I do this about 3 times a year relative to the 2 washes a week I do - not as much as many people but my machine is now 10 years old (probably just cursed it there!).

Thanks guys, (but not due to washing powder)
