Is melted snow OK to cook with?

Rats. Have cupboards bulging with provisions and the blardy water has gone orf! Am I ok to cook with melted snow? Use it in the kettle? I'm sure I've heard that survival wise you can't drink it, but maybe that's just if you're hypothermic, cos it'll just chill you more??

my guess is that it's OK once boiled, but it would be interesting to know the answer.

Don't know but DD has eaten handfuls of the stuff and hasn't been ill (yet!)

CuppaTeaJanice · 07/01/2010 13:24

don't use it in the kettle til its melted though!

I would say it owuld be fine, not advised by Ray Mears because of hypothermic reasons, but I think if you just boil it it will be ok.
