rip in leather sofa - help!

We've got a small tear in the arm of our leather sofa. It's only about 1.5 cm but it's just where you lean your elbow so it's going to get worse if I leave it.

Has any one ever mended something like this? I've looked at repair kits online but they look a bit complicated - all about sanding the leather down and respraying it.

I think all I need to do is glue the edges together but would getting the superglue out be a big mistake?

Please someone advise me before I wreck our lovely sofa!

Would tenacious tape be any good I wonder?

We have some but haven't tried it out on our tent hole yet so don't know how it looks on.

Thanks for the ideas. Yes, fabric glue could be good - I was thinking that superglue dries quite shiny which might show up but I wonder if fabric glue would be strong enough. I think I might have a test run on somthing old. A trip to Hobbycraft when the snow goes...

The tape looks useful but I think it would be too obvious right on the armrest. I'll keep a note of it for other things through - DS's school bag could do with some!

Any more offers on whether superglue would be a bad idea before I go out tomorrow & get some?
