Any way I can get rid of that nasty cloudy effect that dishwashers have on glasses?

I can't now imagine life without a dishwasher but very regular machine-washing of glasses has given them that kind of milky hue so that they always look a bit grubby. Is there anything I can do go get rid of that or is the damage done?

Thanks, all

There is a way of removing the cloudy effect involving vinegar and bleach - will look it up and post later.

I squirted mine with white wine vinegar (I have some in a spray bottle, used to de-whiff underarms on tops) then put them through a wash. Seemed to do the trick.

Back again now. Put them in for one cycle with a cup of bleach, then once cycle with a cup of vinegar in the dishwasher. Don't let glasses dry out between the cycles.

Sorry, been offline all afternoon. Thanks very much for the tips both - I might try both and report back!

MaggieW Sorry to sound daft but where do you 'put' the cup of bleach? Do you just chuck it into the machine willy nilly and then close it or pour it into the filter? Or pour some into the bit where you'd usually put the tablet?

Otter good tip on the underarms too!
