Help me sort out my make up and jewellry!

I have always kept make up and jewellry on top of my chest of drawers in little storage baskets. It is the most convenient place in my bedroom (our bathroom is miniscule, so no room in there)

However, DD, bless her, keeps getting curious and on a regular basis has started tipping up the baskets so my floor is regularly covered in beads and things go missing/my make up gets destroyed etc.

Until she truly learns the concept of the word "no", I really could do with a storage system, using either lockable boxes for make up and jewellry, or just boxes that are hard to open that will look OK on my chest of drawers.

I am on a tight budget. Any ideas of a good storage solution? Thanks

Lakeland do good storage solutions for make up:

but unfortunately, not toddler proof. Could you put make up in one of those clip lock lunch boxes for the short term - ok, it doesn't look great but means you would have got to it before she's figured out how to open the four clips and tipped it out and when she has learnt no, then switch back to open storage solution?

I use the plastic sticky hooks and have my jewellry hung up on the inside of my cupboard. when I open the door all my necklaces, bracelets, and watches are easy to see.

I have Muji storage boxes, not lockable tho

Thanks, some good ideas here. I may go on the hunt for clip lock lunch boxes (they'd still look better than the bomb site that is my chest of drawers at the moment!!) Shame we have a built-in wardrobe with slidy doors, otherwise the hooks for necklaces etc might have worked!

Any further ideas also very, very welcome. Having a bedroom that doesn't look like a rubbish tip is one of my new year resolutions!

Not sure how much make up and jewellery you have and your budget but Geordieminx got this one the other day (was talking about it on Style and Beauty).

Make up box

I think it looks fab and have bookmarked to get one when I get paid. DS (aged 3) is similarly inclined to play with my make up and lotions.

Geordieminx said it was lockable so it's ticking all my boxes.

Thought I'd throw this option into the ring.

Ooh that looks fab! Very far out of the budget I'd set myself, but am extremely tempted...

I have my make-up in a cutlery tray that I then stash in one of my dressing table drawers out of sight. My DD loves an eye pencil

I had my eye on the makeup boxes that RipMacWinkle posted but they were out of my budget. I was wandering round B&Q when I saw one of these

Really useful as you can adjust the size of the compartments inside. If you search for 'storage case' on their website it gives you a few different options.

I don't know if this will help but I had so much jewellery cluttering the bedroom that my husband bought me a Swag-bag for Christmas. You can't lock it up but I have hung it inside my wardrobe door and it holds so much that at last I can see the surface of my dressing table!
