DDs room - help me!

my dd - aged 12 - is very fussy and very unhappy in her smallish bedroom.

so this is our solution -

here

but the colourways for the sofa are a bit limited. i suggested the white bed and black sofa bed so it can be incorporated into any colour scheme. she isnt convinced -

does anyone have any ideas for colour schemes. she wont do black and gold as she says "im not 40"!! (my room is black and gold!)

she wanted green or something similar with a fresh feel. so far she has agreed she likes this
bedding

can anyone do any better...for either the high sleeper or the bedding! im stuck...

my only thought is that will she think having a high sleeper is too babyish in a year or so.

Would she be better off with a day bed?

if her bedroom is really small would she not be better off with a high sleeper without the sofa bed? so that you could put more storage underneath?>
or a cabin bed?

if it has to be that one then why not the antique, with white finish?

I agree with SleighGirl. In 3 years when she is 15 she won't want a highsleeper. Also they are a pain in the rear when it comes to changing the sheets.

The hemnes is lovely and converts to a double bed if she wants a sleepover.

Drop leaf table for desk?

VicarInaTinselTuTu · 30/12/2009 20:19

the problem is she wants friends to stay over and there isnt anywhere to put them. she wanted some kind of bunk bed for that reason, and the room is small so the idea of a pull out futon fit the bill. the day beds are nice but no room for guests. we have tried the pull out beds before but with other furniture in the room there isnt any room to pull them out!

can be any colour but ive got to get wardrobe to match. i thought white would be easier to match up with other furniture.

i hadnt thought about making the bed though....that could be a pain.

she loved the look of that loft bed, as it had a sofa futon thingy for friends, somewhere to sit, and the desk under.

son has a cabin bed in his even smaller room and it was an expensive built in mistake...so am keen not to get this wrong.

or maybe i should just cut losses and move! i think ive got itchy feet so wouldnt need much pushing....

tbh, if it's just so friends can stay i would go with something plainer, that you can fit more storage under, thus freeing up some of the floor space

then just get a ready bed or something for them to go on!

SleighGirl · 30/12/2009 20:32

yes ready bed much better idea IMO. They like lounging on their bed during the day, chatting to friends etc

maryz, can you do a link to the bed your dd has?
my ds1 has a tiny room and I'm looking for ways to get a bigger bed without having a high sleeper

SparkyToo · 01/01/2010 16:21

How about a bed more like this one? I think it looks as if it is a sofa, especially with all those cushions along the back. Then there's the trundle bed underneath for when she has a friend to sleepover. Also because it isn't as high it won't dominate the small room so much.

Suggestion number two is this green bedding which is lovely and fresh looking. Our boys have the navy gingham bedding and it's good quality and has a nice and simple look (which might not be for everyone) but I like it.
