Paint pods ?

Anyone used one of these or could recommend one?

I am envisioning pouring the paint in, waving it at the walls and miraculously my house is transformed. Then I put some water in it and it self cleans...

Am I deluded?!

Just marking place. have been eyeing them up myself...

We bought one to decorate DS1's new bedroom in April - due to circumstances, I ended up having to do the painting rather than DH and it really was fab. In fact, DH was most disappointed as he had been looking forward to using his new gadget and I got all the fun instead

It still takes the same amount of time but it was so much easier having the paint come to the roller by the push of a button rather than having to take the roller to the paint iyswim.

And yes, although you have to clean all the little parts, the pod miraculously cleans itself and the roller - genius

oooh that sounds promising. Does it splatter everywhere like with a normal roller? Can you get into the edges? Are they expensive? Thanks.

BEFORE you buy. have a look at the dulux website. You can only use certain colours at the moment. They have the range on there, and you attach the pod to the special containers of paint iyswim. So if you wanted bright red for instance it would be a waste of time.

mankymummymoo · 30/12/2009 17:31

oh... can't you use normal paint in it then?

Littlefish · 30/12/2009 17:57

Oh bother. I thought you could use ordinary paint in them too.

HugeBaublesWhatDidISayRoy · 30/12/2009 18:13

well now, hold on a mo, I am not 100% sure how they work but in the shop there are the different paints that go with it next to the pods in a different shape to a normal tin. Whether this pod will attach to any other one i am not sure. I hve one here waiting to be used so will investigate and report back.

HugeBaublesWhatDidISayRoy · 30/12/2009 18:18

Right i have the box infront of me. The paint pod seems to clip onto the pot of apin in a particular way. It does say only for use with deluxe paintpod emulsion.

They said there is a demo and full instructions on www.dulux.co.uk/paintpod.

are you using the big paint pod or the little one? From the pics it looks like the smaller one clips on to a pot but the big one seems to be one unit?

I used the big pod where you actually insert the paint pod into it - and yes, there are only certain colours available. We used white so that was not an issue for us.

No, it didn't splatter everywhere like normal rollers - no mess at all. Can get into corners about as well as any other roller I guess so I did need to do the edging with a brush first.

HugeBaublesWhatDidISayRoy · 31/12/2009 08:58

The one I have here says paintpod compact (new) if that helps.

misdee · 31/12/2009 09:05

i have had a paintpod for a year. i like the limited colours so thats not an issue here. i have painted our room in the lighht blue, dd4 room is raspberry pink, and the hallway is white and light yellow. next on my rooms to paint is the living room and big dd's room. living room will be an oat-type colour, so will be looking back at he colours in the new year.

older dd's are argueing over their room colours. i really wanted a red wall coupled with off-white, but no pod colours for those yet, so will rethink that.

paintpod is just so easy and quick. no trays of paint lying around for little ones to step on, hardly any splatter except if you press the button for too long. cleaning is easy. have just cleaned mine after painting the hall last night.

Thanks everyone... think i will head off to homebase.
