Getting face paint out of DH's white work shirt - any suggestions/ideas??

Hi,
As the title says, unfortunately my DS1 managed to get black/brown/orange face paint (he was a tiger) on one of my DH's good white work shirts. I put stain remover on the stain prior to washing it so it has now gone through the wash, at 40 degrees.
Does anyone have any ideas as to what I can try to remove the stain? It's on the sleeve/cuff.
In advance many thanks, all suggestions much appreciated at saving said shirt!

Any pure vegetable oil soap such as Marseille or Castille soap, also sold as laundry soap or soap flakes.

Rub into the stain and grate some into a bowl of water. Leave to soak, rub stain, leave to soak some more. Rinse and wash as normal.

I have had sucess at getting all sorts of marks out of all sorts of fabrics using the vanish oxyaction powder (pink circular box) - make a bit up into a thick paste in a small bowl, spread it on the stain, leave for a couple of hours then wash as normal.
