23 month old chundered all over car yesterday...joy!have washed car seat cover at low temp, but still stinks.i have already ruined one car seat this way,so don't want to make the same mistake as they're expensive to replace. so,anyone have any pearls of wisdom...the straps stink too.

any advice gratefully recieved

Do you have some bicarbonate of soda (aka bread soda)? If you don't get some - it's fab stuff!!!

Dampen the car seat cover and straps with water then sprinkle the bicar of soda over everything rub it in - let it dry (overnight is best) then vacuum off the next day.

Great minds think alike Buddleja...Was going to suggest bicarb too...OP let us know if it works...

will do,although dh reminded me we tried it last time and didn't!that's why we resorted to washing it few times in washing machine and all insides came out and twas ruined.have put loads of bicarb on anyway, and fingers crossed will work this time

It's best put on when the material is wet/damp and left to dry completly

It's always worked for me for both wee and puke!!!

yup, have soaked the cover and covered it in bi carb, then hung it on a line in the garage...we shall what the morning brings!

Get a couple of onions and cut in half (no need to peel) then place where dc was sick.

The onion will absorb the smell - change when the layers begin lossen a lot

i find white vinegar much better than bicarb.

i use vinegar to clean my carpets (have a bissell) as i have a dog and the carpets end up smelling 'doggy', also use it for any vomit/poo accidents.

i would rinse the seat in a 50:50 solution of white vinegar and water.

obviously there is a strong smell of vinegar with this method, however once dry it doesn't smell of vinegar - just fresh and clean.

good luck!
