my stupid dishwasher leaves food particles all over everything on the top rack. it is a bit like sand and is harder to clean out of the glasses than weetabix which has been left in a bowl on the radiator for a week.

i am tearing my hair out.

have you cleaned the filters you slattern?

thelunar66 · 06/12/2009 21:04

Clean your filter... and not just the little mesh bucket one... the massive one that lifts out of the bottom.

Then run one of them dishwasher cleaning fluid thingies through it as hot as you can.

devilsadvocaat · 06/12/2009 21:10

oi.

less of the slattern business.

what filter? i cleaned the mesh thang.

going to investigate...

riiiiight...

i took out the mesh thingy

and a metal plate thing

there's nothing that looks removable unless i get a hammer screwdriver.

ideas?

I had the exact same problem with my Neff dishwasher which is 12 years old. I cleaned all the arms, the mesh thingy and the metal plate thing - I couldn't see anything else to clean either.

Anyway, the only way I can stop this sand stuff from appearing is to use Finish Quantum dishwasher tablets. I know they are expensive but they really do stop this stuff - they are on offer quite a bit on Ocado from £12 to £8 so I stock up then - mind you thinking about it might be cheaper to get a new dishwasher

devilsadvocaat · 06/12/2009 21:27

how many washes do you get with that then?

OP posts:
devilsadvocaat · 06/12/2009 21:30

i see

box of 40 = 20p per wash.

i can't decide whether i think that is good or not. it doesn't sound too expensive.

i'd def pay someone 20p to wash up everthing in my dishwasher.

Clean the spray arms on your dishwasher, not sure what make you have, but Bosch have a video on their site showing you how to do this (you'll have to watch them cleaning the filters first), it's mind numbing viewing but cheaper than fancy washing tablets.

Shoppingveggie · 07/12/2009 13:12

Yes, 20p per wash seems fine to me too.

Especially when you have tried cleaning all the bits including the spray arms.

Is the whizzy round thing being blocked by anything?

monkeyfacegrace · 08/12/2009 11:04

PMSL have the same problm with my cheapskate budget Indesit dishwasher. Im confident there is a solution and am joining the hunt to find it....
(btw just bought Finish Platinum liquid tabs from Asda, £8 down to £3 for 22- surely these must work!)

nannyl · 09/12/2009 09:57

I just thought id add on this thread that when Which tested dishwasher tablets they concluded tesco value were the best (but you do need to add salt / rinseaid if you use them, but given that its recommended you do anyway.....)

devilsadvocaat · 09/12/2009 19:33

thanks nannyl.

whizzy things is clear of obstructions.
