Ditto Siemens, mine has just had it's 10th birthday and it's a beautiful dark blue with silver door and buttons ....it washes well too

we have a hotpoint 8kg one and I LOVE it.

It's huge, can fit a double duvet easily, and spins at up to 1600 rpm which means the clothes are really dry.

Also it has a child lock so DS1 can't alter the settings.

The wool wash is also really good (my old one gradually shrank jumpers.

I have only one complaint and that is the fast spin has an automatic shutoff if the machine is unbalanced, I presume to stop it from swinging about and breaking the ballbearings. I think it is a tad too sensitive and it sometimes shuts off if I have pillows in there or something bit and unweildy.

I have a Zanussi that is going strong after seven years and a lot of washing cycles. I love it. Would definitely buy one again.

John Lewis washer/drier. We had a Zanussi washer/drier that kept breaking down. The final Zanussi repair man that we had recommended we get a John Lewis one next.

We've had it about 18 months and it's fine. It gets a lot of use too but I have no complaints.

Actually, I have one complaint. The 30 degree quick wash only does a really slow spin, which means that either you have sopping wet clothes which take ages to dry, or you have to do another quick spin cycle, both of which defeat the object of a quick wash. What's the point of that?!

Mine's an Indesit washer dryer. Very good, relatively cheap and has a load of features which make laudry easier. Wish I could get a separate washing machine and dryer, but not enough room in my matchbox kitchen.

Another Miele here, and I love it. My mum also has one, and we have put one in the house we rent out too - touch wood we've never had a single call from a tenant saying anything has gone wrong with it. We've got a Miele tumble drier, dishwasher and vacuum cleaner too - we're utter Miele evangelists in my house. They're wonderful. Buy one. We don't have a fancy one, ours was about £650 I think (bottom of the range) but it does everything we need it to, including hot washes, cold washes, delicate cycles (I put hand wash stuff and even dry clean stuff on the hand wash cycle) and I haven't ever wished we had any more features. One thing it does have is the time indicator, so you know when you put a wash on how long it will take (and can select a cycle accordingly) and how long it's got to go etc. Can't give enough love to the Miele.
