**SUPER DULL QUESTION**.......but - If you find your pillows really comfy would you come and tell me about them please?

I bought some new pillows not long ago from BHS. They were £20 each which I think is quite expensive but my reckoning was that we spend eight hours with our heads resting on them so they should be good quality and comfy and supportive.

They weren't, they were shit and I wasted £40

I don't really like feather pillows, I don't like the way my head falls into them, I need more support. I prefer synthetic pillows that can be put in the washing machine too.

Would you recommend yours and where did you get them from?

Thanks for answering my mundane question

No idea, but was thinking of posting this very thing today as I chucked yet another pillow away. My problem is getting ones that stay good after you've washed them. Am keeping my eye on this thread.

nettie · 26/11/2009 14:17

What a coincidence I was thinking this, as I changed the bed this morning.

Lauriefairyonthetreeeatscake · 26/11/2009 14:18

not feather, but down =bliss and you can send them back if you don't like them for a refund

or how about a memory foam one if you want support - I'm not sure where to get those

nettie · 26/11/2009 14:18

Somebody on here must be able to help us

TrinityRhino · 26/11/2009 14:18

I hate feather pillows with a passion
I've spent years searching for a supportive pillow that actually stays supportive for more than one night but I cant

what I have now done is buy three cheap pillows and stuff them into one pillowcase

works well

nettie · 26/11/2009 14:19

How much!

Bonsoir · 26/11/2009 14:19

I buy my pillows in Ikea. They are excellent quality for the price and there are lots of different sorts - synthetic, down and duvet - and thicknesses.

Pineapplechunks · 26/11/2009 14:24

Thanks for those Laurie. I think if I spent another £70 on pillows, totalling over £100, I would need a lie down!

They had something similar in Sainsbos actually, in the taste the difference range(not sure how a pillow can me taste the difference but still....) a pack of two down pillows for £12. Quite a price difference there.

I'm not keen on memory foam, certainly not on memory foam mattresses, they make me feel like I'm going to fall off, they're not springy enough.

I've stayed at other peoples houses and they have done the same as you Trinity and I have to say I'm not keen, I find it makes the pillow to heavy(how fussy can I be?).

There is a very good choice in Ikea isn't there Bonsoir? Ones for people who sleep on their backs, on their sides, on their fronts but I'm never sure of Ikea. It always looks good but I'm never convinced it will last more than a month.

OP posts:
Bonsoir · 26/11/2009 14:31

Be convinced! I'm very fussy about bedding and have a horrifically expensive bed and duvet but cheapy Ikea pillows!

MrsForgetful · 26/11/2009 14:33

74slackbladder · 26/11/2009 14:39

bought some recently from homebase. about £10 for two i think. synthetic with cotton outer layer. so far so lovely.
feather pillows no good for me due to allergies.
dont know how homebase ones will fare in the wash but always have two pillowcases on mine to the dribble etc doenst work its way thru to the pillow quite as quick!

hairygodmother · 26/11/2009 14:40

Mine are brill, they're Dorma Everfull, got them in Dunelm Mill but can't think they were that expensive. They really do stay plumped up and comfy, we've had them for a couple of years not! They're synthetic as I'm asthmatic so can't have feathers anyway.

hairygodmother · 26/11/2009 14:42

I mean a couple of years now, obviously ...

toilettrouble · 26/11/2009 14:45

I got some pure down - ie bliss but jolly expensive - pillows free at Littlewoods!

On 3 for 2 and were in the sale as well.

Normally a down pillow costs at least £25 (ebay) to about £40 (M&S). I got 2 for £40, and they ended up being free as I bought some Xmas presents as well.

Go to Littlewoods and type in 'down'. In a few short clicks, you life will improve no end. They really do make a delicious difference.

puffling · 26/11/2009 14:45

I have a Tempur memory foam one. The one that curves so you can rest your neck in it. It suits me perfectly and has stopped me waking up with a sore neck.

Pineapplechunks · 26/11/2009 15:04

All your pillows sound so comfy. I will have to come and sleep with all of you, one each night, to test out your pillows.

Your DP/DH's won't mind will they?

OP posts:
JumeirahJane · 26/11/2009 15:18

omg DH insists he has feather pillows which end up smelling horrible, they went through the washer today, and the tumble drier has taken 3 attempts to fluff them up with no joy. Yuk.

Synthetic firm but slightly squishy pillows rock! Problem is the best ones I ever had were sold vacuum packed in the shop so you can't test them Sorry can't remember where I got them though, pillow brands aren't that memorable are they?

There's an IKEA contoured pillow that makes sure you sleep on your side - pretty comfy in pregnancy, but is now being used as a nursing cushion

MrsCrawf · 19/12/2009 15:28

I swear by Dunlopillo - they seem to last forever too, whereas the cheaper ones go lumpy. My husband has a Tempur memory foam pillow - he loves it and again it has lasted really well.

StopTalkingAndEatYourDinner · 19/12/2009 15:48

I just bought some from the duvet and pillow warehouse, address is www.dapw.co.uk
They have really fab luxury microfibre pillows for £14 each and classic microfibre pillows for £6 each. They are brilliant, bought them after somebody else recommended them to me.
Also, they e-mailed me this week with a 20% off code, it is DEC19A if you are interested but think it runs out today.
