soak in water and washing up liquid for a while. if it really really wont come off soak with biological washing powder - but unless you have burnt it on washing up liquid should do it.

Furball · 22/11/2009 21:01

Leave it to soak with a sprinkling of washing powder in warm water.

Next time - use a glass bowl in the mircrowave!

PestoLovelyMonster · 22/11/2009 21:02

soak it

I find soaking doesnt work and always end up scraping it off.

Its best to clean it straight after comes off so much easier then. But uugh makes me not want to cook it because its so minging to get off.

And don't use hot water to scrub it that will cook the egg on further clean using cold water then once egg is off give a good clean in hot water.

SparkyToo · 22/11/2009 21:28

I usually put a bit of bleach, fairy liquid and boiling water in the pan and leave it to soak for a bit - usually works.

Only thing I have really discovered - with my bleaching pans is that the bleach also removes the non-stick layer. So maybe not the hottest tip after all!

I don't use a non-stick pan, so I have a wire scourer I keep just for cleaning my pan after scrambled eggs. I reckon one of those plastic scourers would do it too.

Next time, when you've finished making scrambled eggs, fill up the saucepan with washing up liquid and COLD water - hot water makes the eggs set.

ApplesinmyPocket · 23/11/2009 09:35

Definitely a cold water soak even before you eat the eggs! But it doesn't do the whole job for you, no doubt about it.

My dear old Nan, a cook/housekeeper by trade, used to have lots of very wise and practical ways and I am afraid no-one will like this suggestion, but it does work -

"There is no better scraping tool for pans than your own fingernails."

Though you need short strong ones!

somewhathorrified · 23/11/2009 12:58

This is gonna sound gross, but if you just leave it for a couple of days it dries out and shrinks and you can just peel it off...then wash it.

chopstheduck · 23/11/2009 13:03

If I get anything really stuck in a pan, I boil water and a dishwasher tablet in it on the hob and jsut get it a scrape every so often. Makes pans very sparkly again!

shebear · 26/11/2009 15:37

do them in the microwave instead! Its easier to clean the plastic bowl.

tethersend · 26/11/2009 15:48

There's no better way to cook scrambled eggs than in a saucepan with butter- microwaved ones don't come close!

I soak pans in cold water then use a plastic spatula or fish slice to scrape off residue. Comes up a treat, even if burnt on
