Hello again Ladies

Took GOjr to the Harvest Festival service with the Beavers. Very nice vibe. We're not a religious family so a church service was a new experience for him.

I've blitzed the kitchen and it looks so much better. Having some me time now. Hello and hugs to all

TeaMonster · 04/10/2009 15:35

Afternoon all

Sorry for not getting on sooner, we have had a strange day here at the mad house...

DS2 dropped a plate and cut himeself this morning, in the end I had to wake DH up as he didnt want me.

We have:

Got rid of DS2's cotbed
Been in the loft and threw out a load of old boxes
Got the winter coats out
Made shrinky dink name tags for coats and school bags
Made pear butter and bottled it
Fixed stuck out DVD drive
3 loads of washing (hung out too and brought back in with the rain)
DH is now fixing a broken shelf and then some running repairs to the boys rooms need doing too.
A little bit of DS1's homework

To do

Bread
Ironing and pop away
Dinner
Fit 2 shelves
baths and PJ's for all
Books
Bed
Prepare for the week

Hiya ladies
Just back from Fountain's Abbey, very beautiful in crisp Autumn sunshine. MIL's birthday tomorrow so FIL bought us all lunch. Very civilised!
Just forced DH to make a cake for his mum for her birthday instead of me doing it tomorrow - feel a bit as he has driven us home from Abbey whilst I slept in the car!
galen you are right to say the legal limit is 30 for Key Stage 1 - which includes Upper Foundation - but DS's class has three adults in there so that doesn't apply! I still think it's ridiculous though, as they don't teach them as two groups most of the time. I would love my DS to still love reading at 11, so I will definitely see how it goes this week then perhaps go in to see the teacher next week.
Tea sounds like a productive day
Ruby good plan! I would do that but no reading record to write in!
grouchy Harvest fest sounds good
Two very whingey kids here. Why are my children always so tired?!

quick hello!!

Been for walk in the woods in the Autumn sunshine...lovely till older DC messing round with sticks caused DD2 to all and cut head .
Very annoyed munmmy as I had just told them to stop doing what they were doing...but they carried on as soon as my back was turned....grrr. Que lots of "why dont my children ever do as there told" moaning from me....
Anyway other than that things OK DD sat with bag of frozen peas on her head...dinner on the way...fish , mashed pots and veg (ie unassembled fish pie LOL)

All kind of sorted or the morning...no lunchboxes to do as first day of school dinners whoo hoo LOL!

right better dash...BB maybe later or tomorrw if not!

galen · 04/10/2009 17:34

"they're told" Not "there told" LOL

swanriver · 04/10/2009 18:27

ah well, woodcraft...
they do love their sticks don't they? We are always having to hide bamboo canes.

Two kids have been to church with dh (always a treat for them - very kind of him)
I started a bit of piano with ds2 (pages 1-3 of beginner's book [hardly concealed pushy mum excitement] and did some practice myself instead of making lunch.
Then lunch (not as per menu, Wednesday's supper quickly put together

Long swim [by bus to supplement exercise levels] with all three kids

kitchen seems tidy, so I feel in a good temper
Dh has packed the OUTWARD BOUND bag with ds, in a very methodical fashion

now I have to write a letter outlining all the things that ds1 CANNOT do (monkey bars, rope climbing] with weak wrist - feel worried that they may not let him do anything exciting at all, so need to word carefully.
back for pasta and Robin Williams film

ADuckCalledErnest · 04/10/2009 19:53

just checking this works

Wolfcub · 04/10/2009 20:10

hello all sheepish emoticon

done

got up with ds and let dp have a lie in for a change
menu plan for month
did big jigsaw with ds

shopping

crap thrown out of fridge
shopping unpacked
vat of tomato sauce made
been stick/conker collecting with dp and ds
bathed ds

wendy I think there is nothing wrogn with being pushy especially where reading is concerned. I think those that can already read kind of get pushed out because the teachers have to concentrate on those who need to get up to a standard. My mum had this prob with my school and also fell foul of this as a teacher herself, with 30 some kids it can be hard to work out all the individual needs, I think sometimes parents need to help out a bit by speaking up.

tea I hope you had a lovely time in york
ruby 30 shirts - can you come to my house?
grouchy good to see you
ruby/galen the institute of chemistry are offering 300 to the person who can prove - scientifically or by way of video that spiders can't stand conkers.

hello everyone else and sorry for being so shit lately. I am starting to feel more like myself again so I'm hoping I'll stop being so anti social

Starbear · 04/10/2009 20:51

Evening all Very tired, very productive. Should have very little to do tomorrow
Dark wash on line done & folded
mixed wash on horse done
Dh & DS uniform done Only 7 pieces,Ruby 30
bulk chili gone barmy done
1 for dinner 3 frozendone
D/W unloaded, loaded & running done
Various piles of washing folded & put away done
& watched almost all of star wars with DS. Couldn't have done all this last year ds has suddenly decided he does like play on his own
Wolf don't worry, someone will still be here when you come back.
Hey, should we try and win the £300.00 that would be a great meet up

swanriver · 04/10/2009 22:50

Starbear - yes, isn't it sweet when they have things they like doing by themselves
Ds2 is amazing really, you invest a hour's worth of attention into him, and you get 2 hours of independent play - (well not if you are dh - he gets hounded for puzzles, marble runs, bikerides, train tracks but that's another story)

Done this eve
Wrote letter to school about the wrist factor
Made tasty hot/cold salad nicoise for supper
more piano practice (me) and missed Emma (think I've seen too many versions now so don't mind)

off to bed now, leaving sink piled with dirty dishes, as dw hs just finished and can't face unloading yet, want to read another of my charity shop purchases, JT tonight.

Starbear · 05/10/2009 09:34
