i dont tend to get undressed down stairs at all, apart from taking off my coat, so dont get the need for a washing basket in the kitchen.

Flamesparrow · 20/09/2009 18:25

Ah, see we often get DC undressed in the lounge before bed, so it tends to be their clothes in the kitchen, plus dirty tea towels etc.

Flamesparrow · 20/09/2009 18:25

and DH has this really annoying habit of removing t-shirt and socks in the evening

nancy75 · 20/09/2009 18:27

dp takes his socks off and leaves them on the floor by the front door, after many years and threats of me stufffing them in his mouth when he is asleep he has learnt that he can actually manage to carry them upstairs!

SparkyToo · 21/09/2009 10:59

In our bedroom.

I have baskets in my and dd's room, nappy bucket on the landing (used to be in bathroom but current one is too small) and then another bucket in what dd calls the kitchen hallway (bit between kitchen and conservatory and dining room)for bibs, tea towels, cloths etc.

SamMitchell · 21/09/2009 11:12

We are overrun with laundry baskets in oru house. My huisband and I have one each in our bedroom (at the end of the bed). DCs each have one in the bedroom. I have one on the upstairs landing for towels and bedding, and a random one in the kitchen for teatowels and miscellaneous items. Highly unnecessary, probably

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 21/09/2009 11:21

Fleshwound - don't you seperate your whites and coloureds? If you just shove things in then you end up with a mixed load!

We have one in our bedroom and DS has a drawstring bag in his bedroom. I've also got a drawstring bag in the utility which the dirty tea towels, bibs etc go into. Oh and the nappy bucket in the bathroom. Actually I've just added another drawstring bag in my bedroom for delicates/handwashing so that they don't accidentally get in with everything else when DH does the washing.

KnickersandVests · 21/09/2009 11:25

Bathroom.

MrsJohnDeere · 21/09/2009 11:27

One in the dcs' bedroom, 2 in our bathroom (one for whites, one for coloureds).

DillyTantay · 21/09/2009 11:29

who in theirr right minds has more than ONE

dogonpoints · 21/09/2009 11:31

in our bedroom. I have quite an attractive laundry basket. It is one of my better bits of furniture.

cheesesarnie · 21/09/2009 11:34

dilly-i have 2 atm but one is inside the other i thought 2 would be better but i shove it all in and sort as im doing it!

Hell yes, when the one basket (in our bathroom) is full it means there's enough in there for at least one full load of darks/lights/hot. When it's overflowing I'm behind.

Having more than one would complicate the job hugely.

FimboFortuna · 21/09/2009 11:40

I have a big wooden box thing on wheels from Ikea it sits in a space under the work top in the utility which is where a tumble dryer is supposed to go.

I live in a house on 3 floors so have a pop up linen bin in the bathroom on the dc's floor too.

FimboFortuna · 21/09/2009 11:41

My laundry bin

GetOrfMoiLand · 21/09/2009 11:43

I have one in our dressing room for me and DP, dd has her own in her bedroom.

AstronomyDomine · 21/09/2009 11:54

One in our room, one in DS's room.

Flame and Alibaba - use colour catchers so "mixed" loads are never a worry. We often shove dirty washing straight in the washer - our bathroom's just off the kitchen. Honestly - I washed a brand new RED t-shirt of DS's this weekend with socks (some white), undies (some white), white school shirts and a load of other mixed coloured clothes and all was well.
