I'm not crying over it but my eldest knocked over a cup of milk the other day. I thought I'd cleaned it up, but this morning the carpet REEKS! Brought tears to my eyes let me tell you. Any tips? Please?

Bicarbonate of soda might help - but I'm not sure if it would damage the carpet. Spot test under a chair or something first?

Try this stuff It is the only carpet cleaner IME which doesn't end up smelling worse than whatever you were trying to clean up.

I was looking for carpet power but they didn't have it in my shop, so I've thrown a load of bicarb over it and covered it with a teatowel and am hoping for the best. If it doesn't work I'll look for it again. Ta!
