I saw them in dunelm today. Felt a bit strange and heavy, but sqidgy and nice at the same time. If you say they are good I will go and buy 4 tomorrow. And is it true they are good for a dh who snores?

not heard how they are on snores - I find a good hard kick in the bum helps with my dh's snoring . I have heard however that they are quite hot so if you're the sort of person who turns the pillow over in the night to the cool side they might not be for you.

Pinner35 · 14/08/2009 22:35

I didn't like them....I like a firm pillow but these were like putting your head on a brick.

pinksancerre · 14/08/2009 22:36

We have memory foam pillows at dh request. I spend more time tossing mine on the floor because I am more comfortable with my M and S pillows. Wouldn't buy again, just stay on my bed to make it look pretty! (dh uses his though!)

MaryBS · 14/08/2009 22:38

Didn't work for my DH, he still snores

Metatron · 14/08/2009 22:41

You only need one each and I am normally a two pillow gal. I love them. And DH no longer snores.

StripeyKnickersSpottySocks · 14/08/2009 22:54

I love mine so much. It cost £70 and worth every penny though I can't quite believe I spent that much on a pillow. Now, like Prince Charles I have to take it with me whenever we go away overnight as I can't stand using normal pillows.

SparkyToo · 15/08/2009 19:09

My sister has one of these memory foam and polyester support pillows. She absolutely loves it. But when I tried sleeping on one I just found it propped up my head too much as I'm used to sleeping with just one extremely soft down pillow pretty much face down.

Having said that, it probably would be the perfect pillow for those who would like to stop snoring. But I reckon these memory foam pillows are just like marmite - you either love them or hate tham. It all depends upon how you like to sleep, whether you sleep on your side, how wide your shoulders are.... etc etc.

ceres · 15/08/2009 20:33

i tried a memory foam pillow and hated it. the best pillows i have found are dunlopillo latex ones........bliss.

i thought the memory foam one would be squidgy yet supportive, it wasn't in the least squidgy and i couldn't get comfortable with it. the dunlopillo latex ones are wonderfully squidgy yet feel like they are also supporting your neck.

can you tell i love my pillow?!

eeky · 15/08/2009 22:42

I thought I would love these as like 2 firm pillows normally, but find them them really hot, can't snuggle into them and they are so bulky that they have split 2 pillowcases right down the middle

Did buy dh (big snorer) an orthopaedic-type memory foam pillow (curved shape with a sort of hump to try and keep neck aligned) - no help at all and incredibly uncomfortable. Will now be saving these for making cushions for dd, or breastfeeding new ds when he arrives soon!

GrimmaTheNome · 15/08/2009 22:45

DH tried one and didn't like it. (The small shaped sort).

Might be worth getting one to try on your DH. IMO the only thing that's good for a DH who snores is the spare room

TeaOneSugar · 18/08/2009 23:12

We got some free with the mattress, DH loves his, I throw mine on the floor and use an ordinary one, far to thick for me.

llareggub · 18/08/2009 23:15

Yes, you just need one each.

I am very fond of mine and can't use normal pillows now.

Biglips · 19/08/2009 18:09

i didnt like it as felt like sleeping on a brick too so i gave mine to my dd1. Dp loves his.

ABetaDad · 19/08/2009 18:14

We have some from Dunelm. Sleep on them every night. Great.

I had a more expensive one for years but that was more squidgey than the Dunelm ones and I prefer their sligtly harder texture. Used to suffer form chronic neck and shoulder ache form using computers all day but the memory pillow cured it.

Takes a bit of getting used to after normal pillows but great once you have mastered the technique. Yes they are good for snorers but not a complete cure .

SparkyToo · 06/09/2009 10:30

Just got some hypoallergenic soft pillows at an extremely reasonable price online. They are for the 'spare room' / study so I have to admit I didn't really splash out too much on them as we rarely have anyone to stay. When it came down to it I really felt that people would generally prefer a soft pillow to a firm one - but maybe I'm wrong?

toffeeapple · 06/09/2009 11:35

I bought one 3 days ago and I'm in love with it!
It's bliss sleeping on it honestly. I got it from Homebase at £19.99. It's a medium support one and it really follows the contour of your head and neck.
I kept getting neckaches and headaches with my old one, every night, and with this new one the pains and tensions went away immediately and I've only slept on it 2 night. I'm sure it's going to reduce or even eliminate the migraines I occasionaly get.
I asked DH to look at me when I was lying on it to see if the alignment of my head and spine was straight and he said: "It's perfect! I want one as well!!".
Pure Bliss!!

Katiekitty · 09/09/2009 19:34

Like sleeping on a breeze block. Also good for propping open doors.

Actually, the pair I accidentally purchased from M&S are now forming the cornerstone of my Zombie plan. They'll fell the feckers like butter off a knife

MaureenMLove · 09/09/2009 19:54

Love mine! I wasn't sure at first and gave it to DH, but I stole it back a few weeks later, for another go. Wouldn't be without it now.

Mybox · 11/09/2009 21:49

lol katiekitty

midnightexpress · 11/09/2009 21:51

Quite agree katiekitty. You could do some serious damage in a pillow fight with them. Deeply uncomfortable to sleep on too.
have abandoned mine. Oh, and Dp still snores like a flamin train.

brimfull · 11/09/2009 21:53

I had a tempur one for years which was great for my neck as used to get sore neck all the time.
When it died I replaced with ikea one which is just as good and cost about £8 !
Mine is shaped one.
They are hot though.

Mybox · 11/09/2009 21:55

I'm using one between my knees like one of those pregnancy pillow things. It's perfect.

Janeo01 · 06/05/2010 14:38

I bought a pair of those contour pillow from a site online. I found them to be good as they shape themselves to your neck. My partner tried them at first and really loved them so convinced me to get some. They take a bit of getting used to but once you do you'll never go back to old pillows again!

BeenBeta · 06/05/2010 14:51

Dunelm ones are great. I have had one for 2 years. Cheaper and firmer and overall better than the expensive Tempur one I had before.

SparkyToo · 10/05/2010 18:13

They're supposed to be good for snorers aren't they? Maybe I should get one for my OH for when he's had a drink!
